What are your safety schools?

An easy enough school to get into but still widely known preferably in the Northeast region like New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Penn

Majors including hospitality, nursing, physical therapy, or just a long variety of options under business and health related majors

How much can you afford to pay?

A safety is a school that you’ll likely get accepted to AND can afford to attend.

What is your home state?

I live in Virginia but i honestly don’t want to stay here.
I already searched for schools in VA and applied to some schools here includig GMU and JMU
but im looking for other schools out of state

you can try west virginia university. its close but not that fara away.

but my safteys are URI, UC Boulder and Texas Tech

I would try Pitt-it’s rolling, cheaper than most(even for OOS it’s like 26k with lots of merit)
and has FANTASTIC nursing(UPMCs)

PM me for info

U Pitt is rather reasonable for an OOS public, but the cost of attendance is more than $26k…it’s $32,752 (for the current year).

Rocket is right that it gives good merit to students with high stats. What are your stats?

OK…but you still haven’t told us how much you can afford. That will make a difference. How much have your parents told you that they will spend each year on your education? :)

My stats are actually very bad due to moving around three times during my high school career and just not…studying.

GPA: 3.0
Community service: 356 hours

Nothing outstanding like years and years of a sport, leadership role, etc :/

My SATS are pretty low too so that’s why i was looking for more safety schools since nothing makes me stand out, positively.

Pitts seem more of a target than safety for me :(

Oh, and if i get accepted into a decent college, my parents will pay whatever amount
So they told me not to restrict myself since i don’t have much options anyways with my stats…

I sent you a PM so we could discuss this privately. :)

Try Drexel. I applied there as my safety. It’s in Philadelphia and has great science/engineering/health programs. It’s expensive (45,000 for tuition and room&board), but they give great merit aid and decent financial aid.

mom2collegekids-I was just referring to Pitt’s tuition! I should have been more specific!

^^^^

Ahhh…

Rocket…I know that you’re a very savvy young lady and you know all about COA.

I’m just in the habit of always dealing with COA, because when I was going thru the college app process with my kids, I was always having to remind them not to just look at tuition, look at how much it will cost to go there.

Unfortunately, room and board can vary so much from school to school, that a person can’t simply add - say - $10k to tuition to cover room, board, books, etc. There are some schools that have housing costs that alone can be $15k (crazy! lol!)

So… I always deal with the COA number.

Check out University of Hartford. They extended their deadline and waiving app fee for online application. I know they give merit aid, but I don’t know at what GPA or SAT score. Have you taken the ACT? Maybe that will help you, rather than SAT. Hartford has a nice campus. Actually in West Hartford, a nice suburb, but borders Hartford. We went there and met some business majors. I see they have a nursing school too. My D ended up not applying, but I have a neighbor who went for a particular major and it worked out for her.

Try a SUNY.

I suggest Stony Brook :)

My safety is U of Michigan, In state.

holdahand: hofstra university, on long island…?
