I just wonder what blogs people on here read, and why. I really don’t know that much about them.

I read Huffington Post, but I’m not sure why. Sometimes it has interesting viewpoints and newsy items I guess, but I don’t get all the celebrity stuff on there.

I read The Corner on NRO, Michelle Malkin, Captains Quarters, Powerline, Kausfiles, Little Green Footballs and Anklebiting pundits. I read them because I’m a news junkie and like to follow the links. My favorite website is Lucianne.com for that reason. (Just to head off comments, I also read the NY Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the NY Post and the Staten Island Advance on paper.)

I read Ezra Klein, Political Animal, One Good Thing, TBOGG, d r i f t g l a s s, Self-Styled Siren, Go Fug Yourself, and lots of blogs that belong to friends of mine. I used to read Glenn Greenwald, but since he’s been on Salon I haven’t been keeping up with him as much. Oh, and Hullaballoo.

I have a folder of blogs that I like to read. Some of them I read daily and others I check in when I have the time. Kind of an eclectic assortment - iraq the model, joe my god, funny the world, wonkette, living in the bonus round, lucianne, marn, pamie, one good thing, dailykos, and many more. I also love to read newspapers from around the world online. I don’t have time to do that everyday but when I do have some free time, I find it interesting. I have a few news sites bookmarked that I check daily, cnn and cbc, and also a local one. I also read Laura Freberg’s psychology blog, a professional interest but also because I enjoy her.

I sort of do it backwards - I set up google alerts for key words for the subject matter I want to read. Some alerts I have set for real time, others, daily, etc. Then, my inbox gets the alert email, and I go through the links - it takes me to all sorts of interesting blogs, wikis, websites, etc. that contain related material.

I like this because nothing ever gets “stale” and I’m unlikely to miss anything good, unless of course the stuff isn’t indexed.

As for “must read every day no matter what” sort of stuff, I read a lot of blogs specific to my work…

My favorite is Andrew Sullivan: <a href=“The Atlantic”>The Atlantic;

Slate, NowSmellThis (perfume blog), a couple others.

I love scienceblogs.com, especially Pharyngula (<a href=“pharyngula | ScienceBlogs)%5B/url%5D”>pharyngula | ScienceBlogs). I need somewhere to get my daily science fix!
