The post office seems to be running OK- however I mailed three boxes- one of which was supposed to be delivered on Monday and it has yet to show up in the system.

( I also noticed that while all three boxes were priority mail, one of my receipts didn’t have a tracking number. ? )

I didn’t use USPS because it was cheaper but because I thought I was doing my part to keep them in business ( also because local UPS can be spotty)

We ship hundreds of packages a day; about 1% are shipped USPS. We’d ship more by USPS if they’d negotiate their rates, but they’re not allowed to, so big shippers and smaller shippers all get the same price, which is nuts. Intriguingly, UPS has a service where the last leg from the UPS depot to the customer is served by USPS for rural customers. It is considerably less expensive than paying for the brown truck. That makes no sense to me–why would you work for you competitors for less than your own cost?

My post #22 was done on Amazon Kindle, bought at Freddy’s, Black Friday.

The Kindle I ordered online-Amazon, on Nov 11, shipped Nov 16 from Pheonix to San Diego, then to Pennsylvania, then to Seattle, then to Portland, then by USPS to me, Arrived Nov 31. Fedex and USPS made a bundle.

The Norton my H ordered recently made a similar trip as LongPrime’s Kindle. Insane. They gave him the run around on the phone too.

Don’t get me started on the new shipping where it goes UPS/Fed Ex to USPS, then takes 2 additional days to get to us. That has taken off in the last year and is annoying. I’m paying the same as Joe Customer in suburbia; I’d like the same shipping times. Also, our USPS rural driver will cram anything possible into our regulation size mailbox. As long as the box is crushable, in it goes…
