What calculator for math 53?

im a frosh and i will be taking math 53
the thing is im gonna buy a new calculator.
i have been using ti 83 and i think im gonna give it to my sister and
buy a new one.
im thinking of buying ti 89
since i have no idea how much i can use calculator on a math test, i wonder if it is a good idea to pay extra money for ti 89.

any suggestions?

no calculator on math test. At all. If i remember the class correctly, you never actually need a calc, even for the homework, but it comes in handy sometimes.

your 83 will do fine, since as smallz mentioned, you won’t be able to use a calc on your tests anyways. don’t waste your money.

The more math you know, the less calculator you need. Go to your local 99c store and get a 4-function calculator. Not enough? Maybe visit WalMart and spend $10 on the cheapest scientific.

Really prefer a graphing calculator? Get a TI-84+ SE - fast, sturdy, reliable, and looks cool. However, any TI-83(+)(SE), TI-84+(SE), or TI nSpire will do the job well. The TI-89 is more of an engineer’s tool. If you’re one, I’d recommend yet another - HP 50g, for RPN.
