What Can I Do In 6 Months To Improve My Transfer Chances?

I finished up my first year at CC, and I’m looking to transfer to a university this winter. My dream school is U of M, and I am a resident of Michigan. Here’s my portfolio so far:

30 credits 3.75 GPA (all transferrable classes. They’re basic classes like Econ, Calc, Bio.

High School Average was 3.7, however my Junior year was a 3.9 and my senior year was a 3.7 (UW).

ACT:28

Extracurriculars: NHS, Big Brother Big Sister (it’s a mentoring thing at HS), Spanish Club, I’m about to start volunteering at the Humane Center this summer.

I have a lot of time to bolster up my resume, but I’m a bit lost on what I should do. Should I improve my ACT score? Should I do SAT subject tests? Get some more credits? To a big extracurricular activity?

You need to look at the transfer requirements for U of M. Does it guarantee transfer for students from your CC with your major who have a certain GPA or who have completed certain courses? You also need to speak with the Transfer Counselor at your CC. That person should be able to give you good advice.

You don’t need to take the ACT or SAT again. You take them before you attend college, not during college. I would start with your advisor. Probably taking a rigorous load and getting great grades in the fall is the best you can do.
