What can I do next? (current freshmen)

I’m a high school freshmen and currently Duke is my dream school. I aspire to do something in the medical field (currently, my hope is cardiology, but that could change any time), and I’ve heard Duke is excellent for premed as well as medical school. I plan on visiting Duke this summer, also. Freshmen year is coming to a close next week for me, and while I’ve been satisfied with my grades, I am a little nervous about my current lack of extracurricular activities. Here’s my grades from this year as well as the classes I’m taking next year (freshmen can’t take Honors or AP classes at my school, but they made an exception for me):

First Term:
PE 9 - A+
Spanish 1 - A+
Web Design - A
Algebra 2 - A+

Second Term:
Honors Precalculus - A+ (Only freshmen in here, and have top score)
CP English 9 - A+ (can get great Recs from my teacher here)
CP Biology - A+
Health and Safety - A+
(In regards to all the A+ grades, I am sort of a perfectionist/have OCD so I am not satisfied with anything less than perfect, but I know that will have to change as the coming years of high school will be much tougher)

Sophomore Year: (Next year- don’t know how they will be divided up in both terms)

-Honors English 10
-AP European History
-CP Chemistry
-AP Chemistry
-AP Calculus AB
-AP Calculus BC
-PE 10 (required)
-Spanish 2

Also, I am currently ranked #1 out of 520 freshmen if that helps.

The only extracurriculars I have done freshmen year are being in CSF (California Scholarship Federation) and Ignite Christian Club, as well as being the captain of the boys volleyball team at our school and playing club volleyball. I plan on joining the club Tomorrow’s Medical Community next year, and I know that I will need to hold leadership positions in these clubs if they are to count for anything.

Additionally, I know my senior year I will be doing an ROP (regional occupational program) in health careers at a hospital about 30 minutes away.

My main question is: what are some other extracurriculars I should do? Also, what summer programs are available that would aid in getting accepted into Duke?

Would really appreciate any advice.

Also, I’m a white male.

Is there an obvious reason why I’m not getting replies?

It might be because you are 3 years away from the admission cycle and a lot of kids and parents right now are getting ready for college.

That being said, I don’t think you should worry about the number of activities, but the passion you have for the ones you are in. Can you write about any impact the groups made in the community or on you? TMC sounds like a gret tie in to your interest in pre-med. Other suggestions are research in a caardiology lab. Volunteer with the American Heart Association. Get your school to highlight heart healthy items on the menu by putting a heart next to them. Just be creative and passionate about your work.

Thank you for the answer! I know that I am still a ways away, but I don’t want to have any regrets about any of my high school years. My senior year I am planning on doing a program available to our school that would allow me to have an internship at a medical center, which also includes job opportunities such as an EKG technician.
I have pretty much a free summer this year (we already got out). Are there any suggestions as to activities/jobs I could do that would be productive? I don’t turn 16 until September so I can’t exactly get a “real” job yet.
