What can I do?

I’m taking calculus at the local college and there are your regular college students, 5 HS students (including me), and a visiting student from a top 30 school who has already completely Calculus I-III but is just chilling this semester.

After conversing with other students and looking at the grade distribution, our class looks something like this:

100%-Me
~93-~96%- 2 Other HS students
~90-~93%-Visiting Student, 1 Other High School student
43-~85-Regular Students, Last High School Student

17 Students Total, 5 weeks of class completed

The difference comes in that the top 3 high school students win local math competitions and scored 700+ on the math section of the SAT. On the other hand, I scored a 560 in math on my second attempt and I never place in math competitions.

I make stupid mistakes on the SAT and I never feel like I have enough time. Should I continue to do practice tests or do I need to do some kind of review of basic math? I took Geometry and Algebra II over 2 years ago…Would buying the AoPS books for learning and solving Algebra and Geometry problems be a good option?

You need to figure out where your mistakes are and learn from them. For instance you don’t understand the concept of the problem, you need to review that concept.

Also, check out the ACT. Many find that ACT math is closer to what is taught in school.
