Hello, to whom it may concern. I am currently a senior at high-school and I am experimenting with different career choices that passion me. One thing that has always passioned me is philosophy and ethics. However, I’ve always wondered if anyone could actually create a career out of a minor in this field. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
There is no direct career pathway with a minor in philosophy and ethics. While a minor in those fields has relevance to several possible majors and careers, you would need more advanced education in order to create a career focused on them. Besides an academic career, some other possible career pathways could include law, biomedical ethics, the ministry, etc. All of these would require a graduate or professional degree.
I’m curious as to what majors interest you that you might pair with a minor in philosophy and ethics.

To be honest, my goal is to head towards a career in the law. Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree, I hope to continue towards law school. However, many were informing me that I need some type of degree that can guarantee a 4.0 but yet has some type of analytical science in it. I was thinking of majoring in business and minoring in economics. However, I’ve always been interested in philosophy which is why I asked the initial question. I really do not know what specific degree to take, because I’m interested in a variety of subjects. I hope this helps, and thank you very much for your reply.
Philosophy is a fine major for law school as it requires critical thinking skills to do well. No need for analytical science per se, but you have an interest in business or econ, go for it.
You will likely obtain the most A’s in a major that you enjoy. Don’t take Econ classes just bcos you think that you should. There are plenty of Wall Street wannabes in Econ so the competition for A’s can be tough.

You do not need a 4.0 to get into an excellent law school, nor do you need a degree with analytical science. I agree with bluebayou that the best way to get a good GPA is to study for a major that you enjoy.
Philosophy majors do very well on the LSAT. A high LSAT + a good GPA and often work experience is required to get into the best law schools.

Not only do you not need a 4.0, but there’s no major that can guarantee you a 4.0.
There are lots of careers you can have with a minor (or major) in philosophy. The real question is - what do YOU want to do? You can certainly become a lawyer with a minor (or major) in philosophy.
