What carpet shampooer should I buy today?

<p>Dog has left a series of “messes” in my piano room over the last couple of days. Have a Bissel ProHeat Steam Cleaner that has never really lived up to expectations, and has now stopped working altogether. Gonna trash it and buy a new one. I need a testimonial.</p>

<p>Don’t really use steamer to clean house carpets, mostly stains (and mostly pet stains). Maybe I would use it more if I thought it worked well. </p>

<p>Did I just get a lemon? Who has one they love.</p>

<p>Going to get dressed…I fully expect many suggestions when I come back downstairs (you are a prolific group!) and I need to go buy that cleaner TODAY!!! Thanks in advance!</p>
