Reflecting on what I have taken, I wish I took Honors Earth Science. I got recommended to take it from my 8th grade science teacher, but I thought it would be too difficult. Earth Science was really easy though, and I could of used the GPA boost from honors. I also wish we had honors history classes for the same reason, but what can you do. :confused:

I know it looks strange to only take honors science sophomore year, but in junior and senior year only AP and standard levels are offered for science.

I would take AP Latin, very few students pass it however colleges are astounded if you take this class. Sadly I am unable to take it however since I did not take a language freshman year.

@studeam

I’m in college now but in high school I took the following. I went to a STEM magnet school, where pretty much everything was honors, so nothing is listed as honors, however I listed what things were weighted as (unless obvious).

Freshman:

English 9 (honors weight)
Design and Technology (no weight; required for freshmen)
Advanced Algebra 2 with Trig and Data Analysis (honors weight)
French 2 (no weight; there was not a weighted option)
Health and PE 9
Symphonic Band

Summer:
Foundations of Computer Science (honors weight)

Sophomore:
Chemistry 1 (honors weight)

Health and PE 10 with driver’s ed
Symphonic Band

Summer:
World History and Geography 1 (no weight; wasn’t available in the summer as weighted)

Junior:
Physics 1 (honors weight)
English 11 (honors weight)
AP US History
AP Calc BC
Advanced Analog Electronics (1st semester; honors weight)
Advanced Digital Electronics (2nd semester; honors weight)

@guineagirl96 TJ?

@TheAlchemistNeo I got really lucky, since my school starts Latin in seventh grade – AP’s a serious challenge (I almost cried at the final), but reading the Aeneid is amazing. If you get the chance (and have the interest) to take a college class on Vergil, I would definitely recommend it!

@awesomepolyglot Yup!

@guineagirl96 Nice. I have two friends who are freshmen there. I didn’t know the design class was required, my friend made it sound like an elective when I asked about his schedule XD And btw, the Cryptography class tipped me off.

@awesomepolyglot Yeah, Design and Tech is part of IBET (Integrated Biology, English, and Technology) which all freshmen have to take. As part of it, you do a major group research project that counts for all three classes, since you use bio and tech for it and then write a paper on it, which you present at TJ STAR, the end of year research symposium (seniors also present their senior projects then). You have the same classmates for all three of the courses.
