What clubs/organizations should I participate in?

Currently I’m planning on participating in Kendo (Japanese fencing) but that’s only 2 hours each weekend. I ask this question in reference to a possible Mitte application at the end of the year and perhaps even a resume booster. What sort of activites is Mitte most receptive to?

Here’s what I’m considering:

Finance Club (Is this even open to freshman?) : http://www.indiana.edu/~finance/
Stock Market Club (The website is a total dud… no links work: http://www.indiana.edu/~stock/)
Computer Information Systems Club (CIS): http://www.indiana.edu/~cis/home.php

In any case, all three of these websites don’t provide adequate information for me to determine if I’m even elgible to join the clubs themselves, let alone be interested in the actual activities the clubs hold. Would there be a better way to get information about these clubs and determine if I can join them?

My son, who is a sophomore, will be joining the Finance Club also. He noticed that the Stock Market Club is not very active and is thinking of either reorganizing it himself or starting a similar club. Once school starts I’m sure he’ll be looking for people like yourself to join (I understand he has to find 50 people to sign his petition to either reorganize a club that’s become dormant or to start a new club). I think his plan is to start talking to the people taking business courses and to put up fliers to see who wants to help him start these clubs up.

It’s really too soon to do anything now–he says he’ll get rolling once classes have started on August 27th.

wavarian, just curious, is kendo a club sport or just a club?

Kendo is just a club. However, the traditional Fencing group is a club sport.
