What college did the most prestigious PERSON you know go to?

Stanford

Richest Person - University of New Mexico with a masters degree from Rice (was a asst football coach)
Smartest Person - University of Texas at Austin

I work in politics and know a former president so … Yale.

Slippery Rock State Teachers College. Really. A hs teacher.

smartest person: Brooklyn College > Fordham Law
richest person: Columbia

I’m not really impressed by ‘prestige’, but the most successful person I know went to tiny Ohio Dominican College in Columbus, Ohio.

AIDS researcher and MacArthur “Genius” Award recipient - Harvard.

Impressively smart: Duke
Richest: U Penn

MacArthur “Genius” award recipient and educator: 3 degrees from UCSB

One of the most intelligent but not prestigious people: Deep Springs College

UNC-CH

Michigan

I don’t know how to judge what people I know are most prestigious or even richest or smartest (I just don’t categorize people I know that way; both my best friend in HS and best friend in college are really smart, but extremely different in their smarts–or actually, all around, and while I can surmise that both are well-off, I’ve never asked either about their net worth).

But if you want to use some objective criteria, the CEO’s of the companies I’ve worked for in my current career have gone to some no-name directional in MN, Swarthmore, Queen’s in Canada (he’s Canadian), UCSB, and UConn.

University of Colorado

In my line of business, I have met many multi-millionaires, including one running for president. Most did not rely on their degree to get them their wealth, and most did not have degrees from fancy schools. The ones that did have fancy school degrees would have been successful if they went to state college. They saw opportunities, and took the risk and made it work for them.

On the other hand I know many successful people who are not multi-millionaires. A much higher percentage of them went to fancy colleges.

The smartest guy I ever met was a lawyer with a JD from U Chicago. I was glad we were on the same side of the case.

For those keeping track at home, the UG for the most prestigious* person you know. It sure doesn’t look like any other list I’ve seen on CC.
