What college should I aim for?

Okay, so I’m junior in a high school that just opened 3 years ago and I wanted to know what I should be going for in terms of what college I should attend. Throughout these three years, I haven’t really done that many extracurricular activities, but I did happen to join one in my freshman year that has to do with helping our city and I’ve been in it constantly these years, although that is the only one I’ve been in. I’m not sure why I didn’t do more, but I just found academic things more interesting and important.

In freshman year, I took Geography/Health (1 “semester” each in an optional 4 week summer school elective program), PE (required), Geometry H, English H, Bio, French I, and some computer class on MS Office

Sophomore year, I took Art (summer school elective program), PE (required), Algebra II H, English H, Chem, French II, and AP Euro (only AP available to sophomores).

Right now, I’m taking Pre-calculus (the advanced math for juniors), AP English, AP Chem, AP US History, French III, and AP Psychology.

Next year, I plan to fill up with AP Calc, AP English, AP Stats, AP Physics, AP Gov/AP Econ (1 semester each), and some other ap (maybe bio). I doubt there will be an AP French because there are already so few in French III (only 9 students) and I don’t think anyone else would want to take it.

I’ve done well in these classes so far, but each year I end up with just one annoying B+ in some class while the others are all A’s.

I’m not sure if this would even be enough honestly, given the weight colleges give towards extracurriculars, but what college should I go to? (I might want to major in econ or in finance, or something else, I’m not sure which one yet, but I want something that will pay off).

Standardized tests are important to where you can get in. You won’t be able to know where you can go until you take the SAT or ACT.

There are hundreds of good schools that offer econ or finance. Tell us more about what you are looking for:

size of school (large public, liberal arts college, mid-sized private, etc…)
urban/suburban/rural college town
geography - what part of the country, how far from home
financial need
culture - rah-rah, preppy, artsy, intellectual, granola, hip, quirky, etc…

The more we know about you, the better our suggestions will be - and yes, we need your SATs (or PSATs).

Your grades & GPA will be the determining factor in admission to 95+% of the colleges in the USA. Only the top 50 or so will care about EC’s.

Hey, I’ve done my 0-levels. I took 11 subjects abd out of which I got 8A’s including 3A*'s. .I’ve done internships, taken part in declamations, debates, event management, and participated in other competitions too.Currently, I’m in the first year of A-level. I’ve taken world history, sociology, economics and maths. I’m not that good at maths but still I’ve taken it as my Councillor told that its top of the line subject. Well, I don’t know whether I’ve gone for the right subject choice. I basically want to go to IVY’s league, or probably a renowned university which ACTUALLY polishes my skills, and gives scholarships too. But, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO? THE ROAD MAP? I don’t know whether my subjects are of scope or not. Which university should I apply to? What should I do in future that earns me a comfortable living, and is prestigious too. I’m afraid because I’ve seen many who work extraordinarily hard but they end up with a miserable life or are just maintaining a survival.
Here in Pakistan, we lack counselling. :frowning: Please help me with sound pieces of advices so that I come out of this mental stress. God bless you.

I don’t really care about the size, as long as it’s not too big, maybe in an urban or suburban setting. I live in Southern California, but I want to get away from here a good distance. By the time I get to college, I think I might have 20K in savings, but I’m not going to be able to get help from my parents or family. For the culture, I might want a serious about learning, but also can set time aside for fun kind of atmosphere. Unfortunately, I’m going to be taking the PSAT for the first time on Wednesday.

Most OOS publics and privates cost $40-50K/year. Students can only directly borrow $27K in loans for college. Colleges expect parents to help students pay for school. CA has some good aid for in-state UCs and CSUs (not to mention some good CCCs).
