<p>1450 SAT, almost perfect math, varsity athlete, IB grad, 3.9, 3 passed AP courses, bizillion volunteer hours, multiple extra Currics. girl looking to major in math or stat. would be interested in tier 2 school if they threw out alot of cash to get a higher profile on campus.</p>
<p>Just to amplify on crazed’s suggestion, Tulane gives a full tuition award called the Deans Honors Scholarship (DHS). Additional application is required, the last 2 years they have awarded 75 of them. Her stats at least give her a shot at it.</p>
<p>Naval Academy is in Maryland (Just a few hours from Richmond - and a lot more gentile.) and will give her a full ride if she can make it through the screening process.</p>
<p>There is a great thread from “momfromtexas” that talks about how to find merit money for kids like this - I’ll try to find and post …but look for this. Or maybe one of the senior folks knows where it is.</p>

If you don’t have concerns about homesickness, consider locations that are a direct flight from your nearest airport. Yes, there are hassles dealing with the dorm gear. And extra expenses for travel. But you will really expand your opportunities for getting a good match of fit and finances.</p>
