What colleges could I get into with the following scores?

<p>I’m going to be a high school junior next year and have not yet taken the SAT or the ACT or the PSAT. While I realize that without yet attempting such vital tests it is hard to determine my chances at getting into a good college, I would like to know the effect of my GPA, SAT-2 scores, and AP scores on my chances at getting into a good college.</p>

<p>My 10th grade GPA was 5.0 weighted, 4.0 unweighted
My 9th grade GPA was 4.5 weighted, 4.0 unweighted
My AP World History score was 5
My AP Chemistry score was 5
My World History SAT-2 score was 800
My Chemistry SAT-2 score was 770.</p>

<p>Also, can you give me any advice? I would do anything for a scholarship…</p>

<p>Practice for the PSAT…also sign up for the Oct SAT which is given about a week before the PSAT.</p>

<p>“full ride” scholarships are very rare.
Start now discussing with your parents what they can afford to pay.</p>

<p>Schools have financial aid calculators on their websites. You could sit down with one of your parents and do that on a school that you think you might be interested in.
Keep in mind that most tip top schools give little or no merit aid -they give mostly need based aid.</p>

<p>You might have to fall in love with a school that is not your first choice because of money. Better to adjust your expectations now</p>

<p>As you know, the top schools - and those which offer abundant aid - have a superabundance of students with 4.0s and top test scores. You therefore need to think about what else you have to offer those schools besides academic achievement. Take a look at study hacks . com, Cal Newport’s web site, for ideas. Think about what ECs you will focus on (you only need 2-3, not a laundry list of school clubs) and about developing relationships with some teachers who will be able to talk about what makes you special.</p>

<p>IMO Mom2CK WAS probably recommending taking the SAT first, as a prep for the PSAT. If you do well as a Junior on the PSAT you can gain National Merit Semifinalist status.
