What colleges do you think I can get into?

I live in California and am first generation. Middle class family

SAT 2100
SAT II Biology 750
SAT II Math 800
4.0 unweighted 10-12 GPA
4.36 weighted 10-12 GPA

AP World History 3
AP Biology 4
AP Calculus AB 5

ECs: No extracurriculars except for 1 Year JV Football as a freshman and a member of various clubs

what colleges in California do you guys think I can get into?

Stanford-Far Reach
UCB/UCLA- Slight Reach
UCSD- Match
All other UCs-Safeties

If you’re into the UCs, just rock the personal statements and you’ve a good a shot as anyone at the flagships (UCB and UCLA).

what impact do u think the lack of ECs will have on my chances of ucb and/or ucla?
lets say someone else had a 1900 on SATs, a 4.06 GPA, and failed some AP Exams but has ECs and is a president of a club. Do they have the same chance as me?

For the later hypothetical person, I can not say. Its comparing apples and oranges. I would have to see both actual applications and see how you present your activities and your personal statements to safely gauge who has a better shot. Even then, freshmen admissions is terribly random so my guess is as good as anyones.

In any case permutations, I would advise you to just focus on your personal statements. Perhaps, even start now if you can and get as many people as you can to check them. For some reason, the idea on this board is that you can only have stellar college essays if you have stellar extracurriculars. I do agree that varied and involved ECs will help you in writing essays but by no means are they a requisite to writing superb essays. I mean, you are not a bump on a log. You are a person with dreams, stories, and aspirations that no one else has. Just from this, you should be able to write a personal statement that will wow the adcoms and put you over the edge. I believe the trick is to write the personal statement that only you can write. With that, I think your application would shine and you should gain admittance into either UCLA or UCB (hopefully UCB! ha)…

But yeah, sorry for the quasi-rant. I just want to help everyone out there. I was in your shoes not too long ago…If you have any questions whatsoever, don’t hesitate to ask…

Best wishes, Cardinal

thanks cardinal

can this tread be moved to “what are my chances”?
