What colleges do you think?

have a 3.4 unweighted gpa, 4.1 weighted
during my freshman year, I got a 144/160 on my pSAT.

Academic classes: I am currently taking AP Psychology and AP world history and in all honors classes except for spanish and sports class,of course. I only took 3 honors classes last year because i wanted to get the feel of a public school for the 1st time.

My extracurriculars: every week at my local rink I help disabled children learn how to skate.
I am part of the international club at school.
I am part of the Varsity Club at school.
I was part of the Jr Civitan(community service) during my freshman year, but did not do it this year because hockey was taking up too much time.
I play lacrosse for my school.
I also play travel hockey, and have been invited to college showcases over the summer.

ps. my dad went to Boston College and that would be my first school of choice, but i am being recruited by a d1 school, but if that doesn’t work out could you tell me some reach colleges, match colleges, and safties… Thanks

Are you a junior now?

According to another thread he is a sophomore.

OP, PSAT is out of 240 now. Are you sure your score is right?

I’d probably look at Colgate and Holy Cross as well (I’d also recommend BU as a match, but as a UMaine fan I know I’d never be able to go there or BC)

That psat score was from when I was a freshman, I get my results from this years psat back in December. Yes, I’m a sophmore right now… please name any other colleges u should start looking at. Thanks…

P.s. what ate the admission requirements for Holy Cross? So you have to be Catholic. etc

^^^

I don’t know of any Catholic colleges that requires a student to be Catholic. Many of the well-known Catholic schools have a decent number of non-Catholic students - even some Jewish and Muslim students.

I wonder if Franciscan Steubenville and St. Thomas in Santa Paula, Calif require a student to be Catholic? I don’t think the rest do.

Miami U (#1 in hockey!)

Thanks for the replies. How about Merrimack College, I have been talking with their coach and they are interested. Is it a good school? Majors? thanks again.

How About UCF?

UCF for hockey or for school? or both?

Colorado College is a D1 hockey school with solid academics. Similar in selectivity to Boston College. Beautiful location in a mid-sized city at the foot of the Rockies. Colorado Springs has a major winter Olympics training center; CC hockey attracts fans from the entire city. The school has an unusual, one-course-at-a-time “block plan”. You take the same number of courses as anywhere else but in sequence, not concurrently, with a 4-day break between blocks. The one-course focus gives you the flexibility to do off-campus field work; the break gives you time for Rocky Mountain recreation (as well as community service or other short projects.)

Holy Cross is a Jesuit school just like Georgetown, Boston College, Fordham. You don’t have to be Catholic to attend. A lot of non Catholic go to Jesuit colleges.
