My D wants to major in biochemistry and possibly also English (she loves to write fiction–she starts off with a bang and has written lots … of first chapters-- and then fizzles out, and starts a new idea and opening chapter, and the pattern repeats).

She liked Elon and U.Va and Wm and Mary, which is all we toured. She doesn’t want a big city environment (except for Hopkins, she wouldn’t mind Baltimore)
She is a rising senior and really wants to attend Johns Hopkins, she thinks.

Her Stats:
3.7 GPA
2200 SAT, 215 PSAT (made NMF)
Took hardest courses offered, for most part.
Weak ECs: band all thru high school, selected to be a student ambassador at her ‘top 25 public elite high school’ (according to Newsweek), belonged to a few clubs but no leadership

College list:

Reach:
Johns Hopkins (legacy)
Univ of VA (in-state)
Wm and Mary (in state)
Cornell
Rice

Match:
Elon

so we need a safety and some matches, and perhaps suggestions for 1-2 more reaches (we may have enough of those!) only I’m not sure what would constitute a good match due to disconnect between GPA and SAT score.

Any advice would be appreciated. We are not really interested in huge colleges or particularly urban settings, excepting Hopkins.
