What Colleges Should my Sis be Looking at?

I’m posting this for my sister, who is mainly intereseted in going into biology/genetics. She’s currently a junior, do she wants to start figuring out which colleges to focus on.

Scholastics:
SAT: Not taken yet, is taking it this spring
ACT: Same as Above
PSAT: 197
GPA: 3.92 wighted, she doesn’t know unweighted
Rank 120-130/796

ECs:
Cross Country/Track JV: 9th-11th , should be varsity next year
assorted club memberships
Indian Dance: 6-17 years old, numerous recitals
NHS/NJHS
Students Engaged in Volunteer Activities(SEVA) Secretary-11th

She doesn’t know exactly what type of school she wants, so an assortment of kinds would be good.

Which state do you live in? The flagship state university might be a good choice. Does she prefer a small school? a private school?

We’re in Texas. She really doesn’t know what type she wants, but knowing her I think she’d probably prefer something large and in a city.

UCLA
U Illinois Urbana Champagne
Rice
U Texas Austin
Washington U St Louis
U Illinois Chicago
U Colorado Boulder
U of Utah
USC
UC Santa Barbara
UC San Diego
U Arizona

Wisconsin-Madison. One of the best in those fields and nice location/campus.

UT-Austin would be a good fit and she would be instate. She should try to bring up her class rank and SAT scores because admission is numbers-driven.

The best thing you can do for her right now is to schedule her SAT/ACT testing. She should take the SAT1 at least once before the start of her senior year and take two SAT Subject tests in May or June this year.
