What colleges would you suggest?

I am looking for schools anywhere on the East, Public or Private, Big or Small. What do you think would be a good fit for me, considering these stats?

SAT scores: 620 Math, 640 Verbal, 670 Writing (plan on taking them again)
GPA: 3.92
Class Rank: 3/97

Extra curriculars: Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Regional Youth Symphony, District Bands, Pit orchestra for various musicals, SOA European Concert Tour, Honor Society, Ophelia, Student Government, Academic Bowl

Some to possibly consider are Syracuse, Boston University, Gettysburg, Dickinson, TCNJ and Fordham. Good luck!

Reach: Bowdoin, Carleton, Haverford, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Grinnell
Match: Kenyon, Macalester, Trinity (CT), Vassar, Oberlin, Bates, Colby, F&M
Safety: Denison, Sarah Lawrence, Skidmore, Ohio Wesleyan, Lawrence

Vassar’s definitely more of a reach, as are probably some of the other schools that are in the match category above, but it has a great orchestra, which you may like.

Yeah, and Skidmore is far from a safety.

Some schools that I can think of (some are reaches): U Maryland (College Park), FSU, UMiami, Boston U, NYU, Lehigh, Bucknell… I don’t know, it depends what you’re thinking of majoring in!

Penn State, Northeastern, University of Rochester, Tulane. Rochester and Oberlin are both worth looking at if you are interested in participating in music programs, either as a major or non-major.

Just to clarify, I agree with the comments about some of my placements, if you don’t get the SATs up. (Some matches may be reaches and some safeties not so safe). But considering your class rank, I factored in higher SATs  Good luck.

a bunch of the schools pontoforder listed, while great schools (i applied to many myself!) are not on the east…

Carleton and Macalester are in MN
Grinnell is in IA
Kenyon, Oberlin, and Denison (?) are in OH

but maybe your should still consider them!
