I need to book a flight for H around the 8th of January. I have the option of two connecting airports. Phoenix or Denver. The Denver flight is $120 cheaper. Airlines are US Air or Frontier. If it was summer I would go with the cheaper flight and go through Denver. I am concerned about booking this option in January.
Phoenix is unlikely to have weather delays but those US Air planes have to come from somewhere else first. We also have had bad luck with US Air on the westbound leg.

My husband regularly connects between Phoenix. He has also done Denver in the winter. If there is nasty weather in those parts, both airports can be fouled up.

DD connected via Denver or Phoenix on most of her trips home. She never got caught up in either place. BUT one time, she did get rerouted by SW to Las Vegas because she would have missed her connection in Phoenix.

Just wanted to add that airports in places like Denver are well-equipped to handle weather. We’ve never had a problem going through there in winter. Not to say it couldn’t happen, but it would take something pretty extreme.

Thanks for the imput. I went ahead and booked him through Denver. I have other uses for the $120. Plus he is a grown man and if he has a problem he will figure it out. I would worry more if it was one of my kids.
