What constitutes a medical condition

necessary for AC …

Just wondrin’

really bad allergy in some cases, severe asthma, etc.

Pretty much anything where a doctor will say “this person must have AC”. (bad asthma, allergies ect.) I believe that a doctor has to give you a note or something saying why you need AC.

It has to be something kind of serious, or as serious sounding as your doctor can make it. You definitely need a note.

Yeah- I had an AC unit for 2 years, and my roommate had a note saying she needed AC because of severe migraines (which I never actually witnessed…)

I wasn’t aware that AC actually mitigates migraines. If anything, the freezer-like AC at the office where I work actually gives me headaches sometimes.

Well, it’s just an example of the myriad of things that can constitute getting an AC unit. I’m not saying there’s any cause/effect relationship, but that’s how we got a unit…lol

does anyone know if its too late and we needed to turn in the forms when housing was do. I really believe I have a good reason and need for a/c. I am going to the doctor soon

I think having a doctor nice enough to write you a note saying you have strong allergies counts as a medical condition…

all they’d do prolly is put an AC unit in ur current room and charge you over 1000 dollars extra each… idk if it’s worth it… to me the extra 1000 is only worth it if ur in bell tower…

is bell tower really that much better than the other halls?

Yes, it’s like the difference between a 4 star and 2 star hotel.

I don’t want Blakkwell even if I have AC, the rooms are like a oversized closet.

but a climate controlled oversized closet. ;)

really, it’s what your doctor is willing to write. i have terrible seasonal allergies but i also had a really good relationship with my doctor who volunteered to write a note. it’s not too late, i wouldn’t believe, since if you’re in a non-AC dorm, they’ll just pop in a unit.

as for AC and migraines-- that’s probably the BEST reason to have AC. because as you know, that cold dark room is like the only thing to help you when you have one.

sorry- i know this is an old thread, but i just want to make to clear that headaches ARE NOT THE SAME as migraines. I can’t tell you how many times people have confused the two, or say they have a migraine and continue doing whatever they’re doing, or laugh at me when i say i have migraines because “they’re just bad headaches”…there’s a difference between having a bad headache, and having a migraine- where all of the blood vessels in your brain are constricting, you’re shaking uncontrollably with pain, vomiting, and crying. Just NEED to make that clear. They don’t give headaches a name like “migraine” just because they hurt worse than the headache you had last time. They are different, entirely.

who said migraines were the same as headaches? I believe the point is that if ACs are bad for headaches, imagine how much havoc it can wreak on someone with a migraine…

sigh i might as well say, “if ACs are bad for headaches, imagine how much havoc it can wreak on someone with a nose bleed…”

i’m not trying to be a smart*** …i’m trying to clarify the difference between the two. Cold environment: bad for headaches, good for migraines. Aspirin: good for headaches, doesn’t work at all on a migraine, and not because you need a stronger pain killer but because it is not an ache of the head.

My apologies then, now let’s please let a passing remark die…
