Just wondering what counts as international participation in an event when applying to college. I was personally invited to attend an event after winning the national finals, but could not attend since I had a personal commitment already planned. Will unis rly care that I couldn’t attend if my team did? Thanks
How are unis going to know your team participated and you didn’t? You aren’t planning on listing soemthing you didn’t participate in, are you?

I’m not sure I understand – if you don’t personally go to the international event you haven’t participated in it even if your team was there.
In the brief description of the activity state “I competed in xxxx at the national level and qualified for international competition due to placing xxx in the US. I was unable to attend due to xxx(finances, schedule, etc)”
