i hear that at princeton you take 4 courses and it is limited. Also it is hard to do double major…
so…if i do not know what I really want to major in or do when I grow up, is it better for me to not go to princeton and go to like William where I can take various courses??? help!!

There are many students who take 5 courses. And although you can’t double major, you can do a “certificate” (minor) in a second subject, which basically means you take roughly the same number of courses as a major but you don’t write a thesis in it. The thesis may incorporate both subjects, however.

Princeton has a very open curriculum even with the distributional requirements, as seen in the low number of required departmental courses. A double concentration is nearly impossible due to the rigorous thesis requirements, but you can get certificates (which, as aparent5 said, are like minors). Some certificates do in fact require a (mini-)thesis, such as the Program in Creative Writing, which asks for a creative thesis.

Still, you can pretty much take 4-6 courses (though I’ve definitely been advised not to take six courses) each semester outside of fall semester of your freshman year, so you’ll have time to explore your academic interests.
