What courses should be completed prior to junior transfer?

I am currently attending a local community college. I was following my school’s curriculum for Associates of Arts in Business, but I am interested in American Studies major now.

The American-related courses I have taken so far are ‘Survey of American Literature (from columbus to civil war)’ and ‘American History (from columbus to civil war)’

The courses I have completed:
English Composition1,2/
College Algebra, Calculus I, Statistics/
General Biology I,II/
Intro to Business / Macroecon, Microecon /
Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting /
American Literature I, American History I,
Intro to Computer Application (MS office),
2-Dimensional Design, Intro to Music Theory,
Business Issues Seminar (1credit),
Intro to Internet (1 credit)

I have some questions.

 1. What are the courses for American Studies major that are commonly completed prior to junior transfer?
 2. my college doesn’t have Associate’s degree in American Studies. How do the students who studying a subject (ex. American Studies) that doesn’t have a specific curriculum at community college select courses, and what degree do they earn?

IMO, the best way to select classes is to look at the recommended freshman and sophomore curriculum for your major at some of the schools where you would like to transfer. Come as close to that as you can.

I don’t know that it matters that you have any particular degree (ie, whether you get an AA or not). But you can see if anyone thinks that is important. Many people transfer from 4-year school to another 4-year school and have no degree at all, so I don’t think that is important.

Several of the courses you have taken that don’t relate to American Studies could work well to fulfill your distribution/gen ed requirements at your transfer school.
