Suppose that ive been playing the piano for 10 years

These are all i could remember for now…
My questions are
1-Which courses should i take?
2-What are my chances if want to apply 2

UCB, Stanford,MIT,Carnegie Mellon,Cornell, Caltech,Georgia Tech,UCLA,UC Davis,UIUC, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Purdue, UT Austin

as a transfer student?

suppose i have good recs.
PS: most suppositions are true, some will become soon.

thanks for your time

Whats the deal with all the suppostions??? It made the whole thing really hard to read. Where do you go in Turkey? ODTU? Ben Turk’um.

I think you have an amazing record. Getting into a uni in Turkey is extremely difficult, it makes US college admission a piece of cake for the most part. I think that METU (assuming thats where you are) is definitely one of the better known and internationally renowned universities from Turkey, and getting such a high GPA will help you a lot. You also seem to have very good ec’s, but I wouldn’t list all those programs. It just takes space on the applicant and I think will take away from your already impressive (like the robot (but i dont know how common that is for engineering students) credentials.

Honestly, its all up to the essay at this point. With a good essay, I’d say you can get into ANY of those schools. Maybe even MIT with its extremely low transfer admission rate.

Are you Turksih? Because that would help as well, as it adds to the diversity and whatnot.

Yes. You’ll get in somewhere with one-quarter of all the things you listed.

wow, i admire you.

you wrote ‘suppose’ way too many times, and with ur stats, i’d aim higher

you have turned me off to the word “suppose”. I have eliminated it from my vocabulary since reading your post.

unless you have some sort of objection to the ivies, why not shoot for them? With your stats you seem intelligent enough to know that there was really no point in asking people (except to depress them).

Using all these “suppose” makes it too hypothetical; my question is, “What have you done with these abilities?”

You can have the greatest everything, but it means nothing if you fail to apply it to something meaningful and beneficial. And, with talents like that, I would be expecting something HUGE from you as adcom. Otherwise, it would be a waste of talent.

And, I mean SUPER HUGE. Where is all this talent going?

I appreciate your comments very much.
But there are a few things i want to add.
1-Im an American citizen, but im Turkish, bilingual. (turkish and english)
2-parts of suppositions which are not yet achieved
-the piano recital is slated for may
-the automated rover is still in progress
-i am retaking the SAT in june, the score i gave (M,CR,W) are the least of each score in the trial tests i have taken, so i assume i will get higher
-my average currently is 3.53, but it is almost certain that it will reach the stated value, by the end of this summer term.
-the MCSE education will end in june, i will take the test in summer-i will pass…im sure

things that im planning to do(or one just came up)
-i have a project from Yenel Electronics Inc. at METU
-i am planning to receive certification in CPR and elementary german by the end of June
-I will tutor more students-college preparatory-in summer

Now a few questions i have are
-what courses must in order to become IGETC certified?
-what else can i do to stand out in the applicant pool? Please evaluate critically, i know there are other things.
-Which schools should i consider?(for electrical engineering)

i dont mean to depress you or anything, i remember for the past 3 years i always became depressed when i looked at other CC kids. So please dont judge me so quickly, i went through a lot of stress.

thanks again:)

wow, you are trully impressive. Even as an international app, the UCs should be safties/match for you. I’d say add a few more reaches to your school…

Now that you have received your results (admitted or rejected) i assume that you have a clearer idea of the admission procedures.I would like you to give any idea, that might help me and rate my chances. (sorry for being so dull)

Additional Stuff
-CCNA Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification (slated for August, training began)
-Internship at RT Design ( a company)
-piano recital has been delayed to may due to the change of exam dates

my choices in order are
stanford (im in love:) )
BERKELEY(oh Yeah!)
UIUC
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
Caltech
Georgia Tech
Cornell
Purdue University
UT Austin
Carnegi Mellon
UCLA
Ohio State University
(i might apply to MIT)

Guys i need admission to any one of these schools, only 1 admission is enough. i have a myriad of reasons why. Do you think i will get admitted?please be honest.
(by the way my GPA dropped to 3.57 will it hurt so much? im going to fix it up in the summer term, and get it back up to the 3.8 range.promise  )

thank you very much and have a nice day!!:)

well…bump.

Just apply and see what happens. a lot of it will depend on your essay.

You have a solid chance at all of these schools. … but nothing is a gurantee.

I got into UCLA with stats wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse than yours … but it was all b/c of my essay… it wasnt stellar but good enough.

You did everything you could have possibly done, all thats left is good essays.

thank you.
bump again.

“you have turned me off to the word “suppose”. I have eliminated it from my vocabulary since reading your post.”

I can’t remember the last time I literally LOL…that statement was hilarious!!!

you will definitely get into one. gtech should be a sure admit, for example.

I can only offer you my thoughts on two universities on that list - UCLA and Berkeley. I can tell you that for transfer students majoring in EE, it’s probably a number game. I have no EC activities whatsoever. Only a 3.9 gpa. I got into UCLA’s EE program and Berkeley’s EECS program.

So you might want to focus on getting your gpa up to the average engineering transfer gpa of 3.8+. And in your UC essays, you won’t get the chance to list all of your accomplishments (they don’t want to read a list anyways). BTW, that programmig list is way too egotistic (things like classes/objects, exception handling, I/O streams are already a given since you know C and Java). But in your essay, you should definitely incorporate and capitalize on those projects of yours but at the same time, still be able to tell the adcoms who you uniquely are (for example, emphasize on HOW those accomplishments or experiences contributed to your character).

As for IGETC certification, both UCLA and Berkeley do not accept IGETC for EE majors. You would have to call them and find out which GE courses would be transferable so that you don’t end up wasting your time since you are already taking unnecessary courses to fullfill prerequisites for those other universities.

Personally, if I was an unskeptic adcom, I would admit you in a heartbeat over someone with a high gpa with no EC activities (like myself, lol).

Edit: I applied as a California resident so this might not apply to you if you’re applying as a different status.

well if you know all those things just geta damn job

ee_stu:
yeah i know, its that list is rather egotistic. İn the applications i plan to just list the certifications. İ put that list on cause i have a lot of friends who claim they know but can barely print “hello world” on the screen. thanks for your thoughts.

Citan: Well, i do have a job in fact. A part time job at the computer lab at school. But because the term is almost over, i left, and know im about to start a job at RT design, a company. As i mentioned before.

i will try my best to get my GPA up there…

Guys, i appreciate your comments. And i will really want you to tell me more about admissions to EE. Because i don’t know anyone who transferred like this before. Definitely never done in my school.

you dont necessarily have to tell me my chances.Any recommendations, on what courses i should take (ok,now i know i dont have to complete IGETC), how to write my essay, whether i should make a cover statement, what extra curriculars i should accomplish?İ would greatly appreciate them.

well take care, and bump,again.

well…bump again

bump bump…
