Hey, sorry I can’t seem to find it on the website as I don’t have Adobe so I can’t download the calendar. Just wondering for preparation as I’m planning on doing a couple of AP exams and SAT exams and I’d like them to be as close to a recent holiday as possible.

I’m taking 2 or 3 SAT II subjects and the SAT. I’ll be ready by the start of school. I shall also be taking AP BC Calculus, C Physics, Statistics and World History. The following dates that I can still register for the SATs are:

1) October the 4th
2) November 1st
3) December 6th
4) January 24th
5) March 14th (SAT ONLY)
6) May 2nd
7) June 6th

I just don’t want my date to be in the middle of the school semester if the Andover program is as rigid as it proclaims to be. I have yet to take the SAT and I would like to have the option of taking it 3 times if possible for college.

My AP exams I’d like to take are in May and if I have time (ie. May is just after holidays) I’ll self study for macro and a government as well.

My ACT possible times are:
October 25th
December 13th
February 7th
April 4th
June 13th

It was obviously been totally ideal if I could take my SATs II straight after the holidays, then after another holiday a SAT exam and then after the final holiday/is that summer(?) I could take the APs but obviously not possible. What would be the best times for me to take them. I’m an international student so I failed to register for the early June exams for the SAT or an AP exam or something so now what would be the best way to juggle everything?

Did you find it very difficult to prepare for an exam while keeping up with school? Thats my main issue really…

I would recommend not taking the SATs or ACTs until your upper year. The college counselors recommend that you take the SAT January of your upper year, study over the summer and retake it in the fall. You can take it earlier, but I don’t see many benefits in it. Take the SAT 2s towards the end of the year after you finished classes in the subjects you are taking.

The breaks are:
Thanksgiving begins November 21 and ends December 1
Winter break begins December 12 and ends January 4
Spring break begins March 12 and ends March 29

In regards to your APs. I would wait and see if you take the classes for macro and government. It sounds like you are already planning on taking a couple APs. I’d stick to those because it doesn’t make sense to take a lot this early. It is tough to study for APs while taking a full load of courses since you have to start a month or more in advance. The SAT 2s usually just need a little review, and studying for the SAT in an ongoing process.

thanks sugerkim. Should i start studying for the SATs now though? I think I’ll take the SATs II through self study for Math 2 and Physics on the 6th December as I’d be doing AP Calc and AP Phys by then. Maybe World History too I think as I could use thanksgiving to study. Why not try an unprepared SAT in sophomore? Thanks for the advice.

Honestly, I don’t think that it’s worth worrying about SATs scores until later. It might be nice to take a practice test to see the types of questions and how you perform on them. I wouldn’t start studying for another year or so. In my opinion, it’s not worth it. You probably already know all the material on it, you just need to get used to the style of the questions. Usually taking the test twice is enough since you will take the PSAT too.
