What did you buy on black Friday?

I bought a $29 Logitech wireless keyboard to hook to my smart TV. It works great and I can browse the web on the TV almost like on an actual computer. I also returned a $59 Microsoft keyboard because it barely worked with the TV.

Nothing!!!

I tried to place an order online with a 20% off promotion, but they failed to provided the box to input the code, so I will have to wait and call them on Monday. Not happy.

I did place several online orders on Thanksgiving Day.

I bought batteries, buy one get one free.
I bought wrapping papers, buy one get 2 free.
The only reason I did that was because D2 needed few things from Rite Aid to go back to school with.

Nothing for me also.

We would think that, compared to Logitech, Microsoft should have more resources to make sure that a product with its name on it meets some higher quality standard. However, we know almost all of these PC-related products (except for the main chips and software they use) are no longer made in US. US-based companies may just put the name on these products. This is the trend and we may not be able to change it. What I am concerned about is that once the products are no longer designed and manufactured here, we may even lose the capability of even quality-controlling the products. The consumers do not know what products to buy; the products of some familiar brand name are not necessarily any better than some no-name products.

It appears to me that, in the past, the brand of PC and its model (e.g., IBM Thinkpad) meant something in terms of its quality. But it seems it is no longer the case today; or I have stopped paying attention to it a long time ago.

i am actually interested in buying a small B/W laser printer for DS. But I do not know which one to buy. (It is for Mac/Lion.) I bought a small B/W laser printer a year ago and DS ran into some reliability problem: it had completely stopped working after one month of use. To be sure, I am not sure whether the problem is related to the software (Lion OS is not as stable as Mountain Lion OS after all) or it is the printer that is at fault. I almost want to go to an Apple Store and buy one there in order to increase the probability that it will work, no matter what the price is! (I am tired of the need of keeping dealing with these not-necessarily-working-out-of-the-box hi-tech gadgets.)

A Cuisinart food processor, retail price of $179… for $109. At Costco. My one and only, and first ever, Black Friday purchase.

We wanted to buy a tv but didn’t manage to, hoping to try again cyber monday. We did get two $50 american express giftcards as a black friday promotion for picking up my new car on friday.

Precious little - like a 3-PC anti-virus license and an external hard drive for backup.

I bought my mom a foot massager. Retail $120, bought for $40. That was probably my biggest steal.

Other than that, I bought clothes, movies, and some other small knickknack presents. When all was said and done, I saved over $450 (which is over double what I spent). Best Black Friday of my career lol. And my Christmas shopping is essentially over.

I hate shopping so if I do it, I do a ton at once and get it OVER with.

Bought D a gorgeous designer all-leather black handbag at COSTCO! I think she’ll be VERY surprised and pleased, as it will help her project a more professional image as she makes her way in the post-college world come May. Was going to give it to her in May but H said let’s give it to her for Christmas as a Christmas/Grad gift, so that’s what we’ll do. ;)

Bought several hundred $$$ in gifts for various friends/family (all edible/drinkable) and from HI. Will be packing boxes to send them away in the near future.

Nothing. Never left the subdivision. Avoid shopping then. Being retired helps- can shop during the week and already have most things.

Nothing- but I did go all out on wednesday to get an Arc’teryx coat at REi for myself. Friday I went to the grocery store and made toffee for Christmas gifts to send today. Thankful there was none left over.

I didn’t leave the house. I did purchase two items online because my adult kids are home and they could help me make some decisions–Sorrel slippers for son’s fiance, and a couple of sport’s bras for Dd. Being Black Friday probably helped a bit with the prices-- nice, but not the motivation. No big-ticket items on the Christmas lists this year.

I went to black Friday shopping because of my impatience, not because of price. I could not wait to play with my new TV. I bought it last week.

Nothing.

.

Nothing. I am going out to buy something today at a shop downtown.

Nothing as well. I don’t have many to buy for, and most everyone just wants one main present or a gift card.

S actually wants clothes, and I will do that closer to Christmas to minimize any possible issues with exchanges.

Nothing. The last thing I want to do on time off is go shopping.

Nothing and I am hoping to keep it that way. We will give my S a check for Hanukkah.

I went to a designer resale store in NYC and bought myself a crocodile wallet. For H to put under the tree, for me. I wanted to save him the trouble of searching high and low for the perfect gift.

I’m so selfless :)
