2 printers online from Staples for the kids to take to college next year. They were all in one printers for $40. DD went shopping in actual stores and I sent a list and money with her :D.

I did my back Friday shopping on-line, on Thanksgiving day. I bought my husband a Garmin 610 GPS watch, bc it was a great deal… Then I went to the gym Saturday, and they had it 50 for bucks cheaper… An amazing deal. I will have to take the first one back, but I’ve got a pile of stuff to return to REI anyway. I also got a couple of 100 itunes cards for 80 each, and lots of things from the 3 for 30 Body Shop sale.

Sorry coolweather I don’t buy the argument that Black Friday is good for those on limited incomes. The sale items are for “wants” not “needs”. It’s a sad state of affairs when “wants” take priority over “needs”.

Tried my best! Went to Wal-Mart around 10pm on TG which was such a ZOO I thought I’d be maimed at best. Left having decided discretion was the better part of valor. Couldn’t imagine anyone wanting anything THAT bad!
Went to the mall on Friday–wandered around and …decided I didn’t need anything that badly to stand in the lines.
Visited Wal-Mart again in the afternoon (all crowds were gone by then)…pretty fun!–got some great buys. Filled up my cart with things that we actually could use.
After a sobering thought of an empty Christmas tree (I know some of you think this would be good), I got on-line and did some serious shopping. Very happy! Free shipping abounds! Still waiting for Cyber Monday.

Took DS to Men’s Wearhouse to get him a suit for the up-coming interview season at his school. Had a coupon for 70% off. With alterations it came to under $200.

Glancing longingly a 90" TV at BJ’s, but DW put the kibosh on that one. ;)

Shopping? Not me. With a house in shambles thanks to Sandy, I’ve decided we have way too much stuff anyway. Besides, I have no clue what anyone wants. My kids are much better shoppers than I am, plus they include websites on their lists. Wish I could say I was productive and actually accomplished something though.

It’s a joke at our house but my kitchen counter is host to a very over-sized TV compliments of Black Friday a couple of years ago. And we LOVE it! Fortunately we don’t have to explain it to guests very often…

Iron, not true. I got incredible deals on my clothes and work clothes. Well over half off. I needed to buy these for my upcoming graduation and interviews do they were definitely needs rather than wants. I also bought a bunch of kitchen stuff I’ll need for my new apartment. If I need this stuff anyway, why not buy it when it’s really cheap?

Plus Black Friday really is the only I can afford presents to my close extended family.

limabeans–My thoughts are with you! We’ve “been there, done that” after an horrific storm and it’s a long haul to say the least (not the least psychologically). The thing your kids want the most is not for you to be “productive” and accomplishing something buying presents but enjoying the Christmas season as it was meant to be.

Did some cyber shopping. Wouldn’t even buy bagels as the bagel shop was across from the mall and traffic was sure to be horrid.

Went with my SIL on thanksgiving night to Walmart. She decided she didn’t need anything that bad and we left. She went to the pet store the next morning and bought dog food on sale. Not many Black Friday shoppers in the family.

When the kids were younger, we did some Black Friday shopping. It was OK & helpful for some expensive electronics and games. Last year, bought S some clothes on Black Friday (out of the dozen slacks I purchased only ONE pair fit). This year, have restrained myself and mostly bought things to mail as food gifts for friends & loved ones–just finished filling up 5 priority mail boxes with the items and am awaiting one more address before I send everything off.

I never got my local paper on Thursday, so I missed all the Black Friday ads. I’m still a bit annoyed at that. We don’t need anything major, but I like wandering into stores to pick up a few stocking stuffers that are effectively given away.

I bought a suitcase and some dorm supplies. Online.

I can’t get into the craziness generally associated with Black Friday because I find it way too stressful, but we need a new couch, so DH and I drove down the road yesterday to a local furniture store and ordered one that was on sale. Furniture stores don’t tend to be the hot spots on Black Friday, so there was no stress other than deciding which one to finally pick. :D

Today, online, I ordered a pair of short boots and a bathrobe for my daughter. And that’s it.

I bought H three pair of levis online yesterday ( thats all he wears), and a mailbox. ( we are redoing our porch area & needed a bigger one)
Today I took D to a couple local running stores to get shoes & a bra & a top for small business Saturday.

I’ve been doing a fair amount of online shopping. Big discounts on everything at most online clothing companies. Big sale online at REI ends tomorrow. 30% off everything plus free shipping at LandsEnd, Coldwater Creek and others.
Due to our unfortunate remodel disaster last year I get email and catalogs from a company called Lee Valley that has some unique gifts along with their drawer pulls and woodworking tools. I’m getting their cooling racks for myself - they fit into a half-sheet baking pan to use as cooking racks…Multi taskers!

I went to Charlotte Motor Speedway and bought 3 laps (actually it was a $25 charitable donation). Then I went to the vendor trucks and bought a 2012 Daytona 500 baseball cap for $5, then bought 2 more caps for $3 !!! (2 for $3) Then in the bargain tent picked up 2 tshirts for $1 each. :D

H bought a new tv online. Discount from the manufacturer from work+ extra TG savings made it worthwhile.
I bought a couple of things at target for the girls. Good price on DVDs. #1D doesn’t have cable in her apt, so a tv series or two is appreciated. I didn’t go out til mid-morning, so the crowds were minimal, if that.
Black Friday was a boon for us back when the girls were little and expenses were high. If we could buy gifts we were planning on buying anyhow for much less, all the better. These days, money isn’t as much of a concern, but if I can get a blender (for “smoothies”) at half off, I’ll do it. I pay full price for my books at a local bookstore, so I look for savings on other things.

My 84yo dad took my 17yo out Friday to buy cowboy boots. Tonight, I ordered a Texas Rangers garden gnome for ds1. I’m not really much for this shopping thing.

I’ve gone Black Friday shopping in a mall in Columbus for the last 3-4 years. It’s never super crazy. We usually get there around 4 AM (we refused to shop at any stores that opened on Thanksgiving and the rest opened around 4) and it’s usually busy but not out of this world. Kohl’s is the only one that had a ridiculous line but even that wasn’t extreme.

I will definitely put up with the craziness to save ~2/3. Not even a question.
