<p>I sold out all of my principles and believed, for the duration of writing my application, that this was a world that wasn’t absolutely absurd and people got where they were by merit.</p>
<p>I started a proletariat revolution whilst scaling Everest on the back of a camel.</p>
<p>I happened to have been a part of that proletarian revolution. I didn’t manage to get elected to a leadership position, though. What a shame, it really could have helped my Yale application even more.</p>

<p>You’re a slacker. My son carried the camel on his back whilst he scaled Everest, and he solved world hunger.</p>
<p>I didn’t apply to Yale as a high school senior, but I got into Yale as a transfer. I did not “do [anything] to get into Yale.” I did something that I like to do, which (incidentally) helped me get into Yale.</p>
<p>I read. Rabelais, Sterne, Nietzsche, Marlowe, Kleist, Sturluson, Pushkin, Grimmelhausen, a lot of classic literature and philosophy that I don’t think many high school or college students read. Grades weren’t important to me, but I studied enough to get mostly As. My freshman and transfer applications reflected my fascination with books. </p>
<p>Just like Ceaseless there said: getting into a school like Yale is not following a prescribed set of steps. It’s not what you DO, it’s who you are BECOMING. Try to wrap yourself around that concept. The searchers for the yellow brick road? They’re still looking.</p>
