Yay! My catās insulin went down to $8 or so because he was automatically enrolled in their pet prescriptions program!
ETA: just looked at the syringe. The non-member price is over $100! Iād pay that for my cat, but many people would not be able to afford or would say āforget about it.ā
Iām confused and intrigued about the Costco prescription service.
Is this different than the Costco pharmacy in the store?
Iāve been trying to price out medication since we had to change plans. No longer is our very generic medications covered. I went with mark cubans cost plus. I tried good rx, Costco was expensive, about the same as Walgreens. Cost Plus was much cheaper.
I learned that several companies are running clinical trials for a once a week sq injectable insulin! Glargine, the type of insulin used for twice a day injections, is used as a comparative drug. Someday, if this weekly insulin makes it to the human market, it will be tested in pets. That would be a HUGE benefit for diabetic pet owners who have to travel and need to hire an experienced pet sitter who can visit the pet 2x daily.
Costco pharmacy is open to non-members. As I understand it, Costco members get this benefit automatically for certain prescription drugs. Non-members get the non-discounted price. But maybe Iām incorrect!
Itās a bit confusing, even in the FAQs, in terms of how it works. If Iām reading correctly, you must be a Costco member to get the member pricing. But Iām not sure if you will automatically be presented with the membership price if you have insurance - itās possible that you might have to indicate that you want to use the lower price anytime itās lower than insurance price. My H discussed the pricing when he switched his prescriptions to Costco, and they did ask him if he wanted to receive the lowest price going forward.
In addition, you can get the CMPP low price at other stores, including Walgreens, by presenting your card. The pricing available through the CMPP discount card applies at local Costco pharmacies, Costco mail order and thousands of participating neighborhood pharmacies including Walgreens, Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Saveon, Bestcare, Nowrx, Delta, United, Better Life, and more.. I learned that, evidently, youāre supposed to disinfect granite countertops. Who knew?
You canāt have a Prolia shot within 4 weeks of dental surgery, even if it is minor extraction of a broken tooth. Prolia isnāt listed as an active medication because it is classed as therapy.
We started using this last yearā¦.
I wish Publix carried it or a local
Store, but so far just Amazon. Drat. (So I sadly contribute to Bezosā yacht fund.)
I think it is like Good Rx or Single Care. It might be cheaper than insurance, but you donāt get credit for it on your deductible (now $2000 for medicare). I stocked up on all my prescriptions in 2024 so Iām good until Feb. Then Iāll have to figure it all out. I know Kroger doesnāt take Good Rx, Safeway wonāt give a full 90 day supply of some drugs⦠Iāll need a CPA to advise me on organizing my prescriptions.
Thanks, but I donāt intend to use anything but the dishsoap and water Iāve always used. I was being a bit facetious.
You are correct, and thatās why I believe that you have to express your interest in receiving the lowest price if you have prescription insurance.
I learned about my friends sister that passed away suddenly and unexpected, at her funeral today. She was a remarkable women actually.
I also learned that going to the Walk in eye clinic at Rush hospital for emergent things for my wife(central white flashing) , you sit for hours before they take you. But itās a wonderful clinic.
Our local Walmart has it. Added it to my pick up order for tomorrow! Thank you!
@123Mom123 - as much as I despise Bezosā yachts, he is the only serious competitor of you know who in the oligarchsā space race. So you and I sponsor space research, I tell myself.
adding to the countertop cleaning posts, I learned about quaternary ammonium salts in cleaning products (which have an uncertain safety profile), thanks to our resident chemist bunsenburner
Today, I learned about this remarkable woman known as the kitty Freud.
I just learned that when going to your detached garage to see if that is where you left your house keys, you should make sure to leave the house door unlocked on a 25 degree day. The good news is I can now see through the window that my keys are in fact insideš
My husband is a Vietnam era veteran (he was drafted); he recently heard about USAA (an organization that provides insurance coverage for veterans). We had water damage in our home 4 years ago (result of improper maintainence by the heating contractorāweāre suing the company). Chubb paid out part of our loss (some large items were not covered) and then promptly dropped us. Our insurance broker could only find coverage from one company-- Lloyds of London. I called USAA today and H and I both became members. (I could join because heās served). I got a quote for property insurance that provides basically the same coverage as we have now for almost 50% less than what we are paying.
