I learned today that I can mute an entire thread here! Don’t want to think about it, mute!
Please share! Does it just not show up in your feed?
On the bottom left hand side there’s a drop down, on this thread it says tracking, with a bell. On the drop down there’s an option that says mute.
Now I don’t see that thread at all! Like poof! It’s gone!
I learned why H recently blocked and ended a friendship. The dude seemed nice at first, but has zero social skills and probably is mental imbalanced. He will just go off over nothing, and start throwing insults and very low blows. And then later act like nothing happened. Up until recently they were against others in the friend group and almost everyone has ghosted him.
The other day he went off on H because he gave him a realtor number when asked for help finding him a place to live in town. Apparently he thought we should find him some special deal with someone. (We don’t know anyone well enough to do that)
So what was the final straw for H? He said something ugly about me. I didn’t think it was that bad, but H said that crosses a line. Made me smile.
I learned that with the proper clothing I can walk the 3 miles around our nearby lake (now frozen over) when it “feels like 16 degrees”.
Today I learned that one of my favorite TV shows, Jeopardy!, was originally conceived as a joke.
In light of the quiz show scandals of the 1950s, Merv Griffin’s wife Julann jokingly suggested they should just give contestants all the answers, and have them come up with the questions.
Brilliant!
Haha—learned something new today. You can loosely put waxed paper around the knife you’re using to cut something soft and gooey and manage to cut it without cutting thru the waxed paper and without getting knife sticky and messy.
As an extra benefit, you can unroll the scrap of waxed paper and serve the gooey item in it and keep your fingers goo-free.
I learned that Kohl’s sent neither a paper nor email billing for the payment due today. Thank goodness for the Blondie comic strip on the subject of online billing or I wouldn’t have remembered that husband recently shopped there. (Neither of us had been in months.). So went online and discovered the bill was due today and paid it timely.
I’m giving up on the Kohl’s charge anyway. (1) The only store within a reasonable distance will be closing; back in Chicagoland I had four to choose from, all better than this one. (2) Last two times I was in the store, I was very disappointed in the selection. (3) They’re switching their store credit card to a Capital One card with worse credit terms.
What I learned? That a simple pumice stick beats every oven cleaner!
These were essential for cleaning hard water stains in our toilets in Florida! Never tried it on an oven, so thanks for the tip!
Just don’t use on the glass. The enameled surfaces of the oven are fair game! The little stick made the oven that looked like a nuclear disaster zone shine almost like new again.
If anyone needs to contact SSA, try searching around on the internet for a local office near you instead of the huge national office. The toll-free numbers they list on their letters and forms are the national office.
I called multiple times the numbers listed on the letter they sent us. Wait times were always >120
minutes and the agent at the listed extension was never in and didn’t return our call.
Found a toll-free local # and called it and wait time was 15-20 minutes and the nice lady scheduled an appointment for 2 workdays from now and told us to bring in IDs. I was very pleased that we no longer have to keep calling and leaving messages and getting hung up on!
So, search around and try to find your local office and the LOCAL toll-free #.
Since my dad had served in the Air Force, I am also eligible for coverage. I have been a member since 1979. My mother died recently and I called USAA to cancel some policies. My parents had been members for 71 years. The USAA agent got all excited when she heard of the length of their membership. I later got a nice note from the president of USAA thanking our family for our years of loyalty.
Yep, we have hard water here in Texas, too. They work very well.
Not being political but factual, the government recently announced that all SSA communication would go through the social media platform “X” since they would be firing 90% of the SSA workforce.
So be prepared for that wait to be longer locally, National or whatever …
SSA already said that was false: “Hours later, the agency responded to the Wired report with a post on X: “This is false. Social Security will continue to communicate through any and all mediums.”
So incorrect information was announced to employees during an employee meeting?
Feel free to delete my post if you feel inaccurate but “my sources” aren’t disproving yet.
@abasket @kelsmom -
I don’t doubt for a moment that it was announced and that they quickly realized the error of their ways, similar to many other things that have been announced and quickly repealed since January.
They will still communicate through all mediums including X which is the fastest way to update info. Websites/press releases may lag a bit behind the X info.
