"What did you score on......."

It always baffles me how everyone in the “What did you score on…” section seems to score significantly higher than what is considered ‘average’ at my school. And my school was ranked by US News as one of the top 100 public high schools in the US.

Do you think the higher scores and greater resumes you’re seeing on these forums is due to the fact that the people who come to these forums are more likely to be the ones who are looking at success?

Are you really serious? Of course that’s why. A person who doesn’t care about their score isn’t going to come on an internet forum and post it.

And my school was ranked by US News as one of the top 100 public high schools in the US.

That ranking is bull. Who cares how many IB/AP tests kids take? What matters more is how many they pass…

500 on each section is very close to average implying that 1000/1600 is an almost average score. I only know 2 people that made below 1000 in person. The numbers people report everywhere, not just on this site, don’t seem to align up with how many people seem to get 800’s on sections - I know several people that got 800’s on at least one section in real life… yet we should all be in the top fraction of a percent… It’s not just CollegeConfidential.

I think the only explanation that most people just aren’t exposed to people in rural places in the nation that must be underperforming or something… I don’t know, really.
