I have a very unbalanced score (M730 CR510) and am applying to several undergrad business schools (I don’t know the correct term for it but you know what I mean)… anyway what will they make of my unusual score? Will they view this 1240 as better, worse, or the same as a more evenly split 1240???

btw…white male (just really bad at CR lol)…thanks in advance for input

i’m no expert on this, but i would think that if you’re applying to business they would rather have a little better math than cr. that being said, I’m sure 510 cr still doesn’t look too hot, but of course it’ll depend on where you’re applying

yeah…kinda what I thought I’m applying to schools such as nova, fordham, lehigh, and others…basically good schools but nothing spectacular…just hoping my disgraceful CR score doesnt kill me

will the Jan 26 scores count towards a score reporting deadline of Feb 7? I realize the results won’t be out by Feb 7 but will schools accept the scores?

I’m pretty sure that colleges see that profile all the time, just like they see high verbal/low math all the time. It’s really a “type of mind” thing, and they know that. Depends on where you are applying. What is your writing score? That could offset the low CR.

I have the same situation only flip-flopped. High CR, low math. It sucks! I just hope colleges we take my intended major into account (english lit or psych) and understand that I’m really just not a math person, but excell at other things.

Good luck…I’d like to find out about this too. What if you’re in the top 75th percentile for a college for one subject, but in the bottom 25th, or possibly lower, for another?

very similar situation here. 550M 650CR 660W Essay:11
I am going to apply at some higher selective schools and some solid schools.
What do you think?

My son had a lopsided SAT. He was accepted to most schools and half of them offered merit scholarships. His SAT score was higher and the split was not quite as bad, but definitely lopsided.

mine’s pretty lopsided, too…with math 100 pts. higher than CR, and writing 180 pts. higher than CR with a 12 essay. Could the writing offset the CR score?

I dont know. I do know this much, that many schools including Fordham have a lot of work for freshmen…including a lot of reading and writing of papers. Now sometimes kids are great readers and can write really well reasoned papers because they are not standardized tests and timed. So that may be your situation. If not, then I strongly suggest some remedial work on those skills. Even good business majors are required to write papers. Kids at Fordham College of Business Administration are matriculated with other freshmen at Fordham College at Rose Hill and take the same core requirements, then split off and begin their majors when that is completed. Some squabble about that, but really its for your own good. Any successful business executive will tell you that in addition to being an expert in accounting, finance, sales etc…they were excellent communicators, including writing skills.

Fordham is white hot right now. Last year they had 22,500 applications for 1,700 seats. The admission requirements are rising every year. I think you will be fine and wish you the best of luck. Its an awesome school that is finally getting the attention it deserves.

catfishin, you seem to know alot about fordham…would you happen to know if the business school is easier/harder to get into than the other schools (Rose I believe? too lazy too look it up right now lol) I would only be interested in the business school just kinda evaluating my chances…thanks
