What degree do companies look for the most as one going into a computer/engineering related field? M.S., MBA, Ph.D., etc.

Depends on what kind of job you want …

e.g.,

M.S. or M.Eng. - I think this is the best degree for working as an engineer in a big company (e.g., Microsoft, Google, etc.). The master’s level degree allows you to stand apart from people who only have Bachelor’s Degrees, so you will be able to start with higher salary, have better upward mobility, have an easier time finding subsequent jobs, etc.

M.B.A. - If you get an MBA, you probably don’t want to be an engineer. Of course, you could still work in the high-tech sector in marketing, sales, etc.

Ph.D. - The only company jobs where you really need a Ph.D. are research jobs in industry, such as at Microsoft Research, IBM Research, Xerox PARC, etc. You don’t need to have a Ph.D. to be a computer engineer, although in some other fields, I’ve heard that lots of engineers have Ph.D.'s.
