I was entering my essays to my UT application when I realized I had entered my essay over topic B in the space for topic A. I hadn’t submitted it yet so I figured I could just change it. While I was able to backspace the essay, applytexas wont let me entirely unselect essay A. My application reads that I completed essays A B & C when I only did B and C!
I called my school’s college counselor and she didnt know what I should do either. Her best guess was to state in the space for essay A that I accidentally selected the wrong essay…
I’ve written “This is not an essay.
I accidentally opened topic A instead of B when I entered my essay. I realized
this immediately and tried to fix it however I am not able to delete essays.”

What should I do!!! Is this a common problem! I’m submitting my app ASAP. How best do I proceed!? I dont have time to delete the application and fill it out again.

Is it required for the major you are applying to? If not, it is probably a glitch, if you absolutely HAVE to submit, I would call the school afterwards to clarify the issue.

@paintsplatterla Nope, the only required topic is C. Then you choose either A or B. In fact, the college prefers you don’t send all three essays.
I don’t see anyway around submitting it because the “submit application” button has a disclaimer stating that by pressing that button im agreeing to send all essays on file. Today’s the application deadline (whoops) so I know if i try to call the school it’ll be extremely busy. Do you think I should try to call tomorrow to explain?

Yes definitely call the office tomorrow and explain your predicament. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your help!!! @paintsplatterla

Since today is the deadline, consider emailing admissions with an explanation tonight. This way, they can print out your email and add it to your application file, and most likely they will respond to your email as well and you can keep that in your own file.

Hope this helps. Best of luck! : )

I called the admissions office of the school I applied to yesterday and they let me know that it was completely fine! Applications go through processing so the essay A will be thrown out and the decision makers will ever even see it. #:-S thanks @eCoachJen and @paintsplatterla

Good lesson here. Triple check everything, but realize that most mistakes can be handled.
