What do I need and should prepare to get into Princeton University.

Hi, I am Korean International student and I am just going to be 10th grade. In 9th grade, I did not knew what to prepare and I did not do anything that could be helpful for me to get into IVY League. Also I went 9th grade twice because I came to the United States as 8th grade when I should have came in as 7th grade. I did not do well and I had to transfer school. However my formal school wasn’t right for me because of religious thought and how they teached the students, did not helped me in grade. So I transfered school twice in 2011~2012(9th grade) and transfered school to my present school(2012~2013) as 9th grade. Does this act affect my admission to College? As I said at first, I am going to be 10th grade now, and I do not know what I should do and what do I need to get into Princeton University. I also do not know what to do with community service. Thank you.

Transferring schools won’t negatively affect your application. I know someone who switched schools before junior year. You should focus on getting good grades, excelling at activities you’re passionate about, and building relationships with teacher and other adult mentors. Community service is not necessary for admission but it can help if you can demonstrate your passion for it (founding a charity or something).

Second what BiologyMaster said. Find a passion (be it music, history, sports, technology, religion, anything really) and excel at it to the point where you’ll stand out in a sea of 30,000 applicants. Good grades and test scores are necessary, but most people who apply to the Ivy League already have those things.

I don’t believe Princeton officially looks at your 9th grade marks in consideration of your admission application, however the system in our country includes those grades on the transcript so I think they were sent if not included in the admission decision.
