What do I need to improve?

I came to the US 2 years ago and was a junior and senior at my high school. I didn’t know how the system works, so I just took Calculus AB and BC (next year, I wanted to take both and got B) and Academic English. My GPA is 3.5 (lot’s of B’s and 2 C’s from Russian high school, no D’s or F’s) and SAT score is 1800 (I took it in my first spring in the US, so my English has definitely improved since). I didn’t do any sports at school and did only a few hours of community service.
I’m going to a community college this fall as I was really confused and didn’t feel like moving out.
So what do I need to do in order to have good chances of being admitted to UCLA for business department? And do I have any chances at all? Should I join sports clubs and community service organizations? I’m going to apply next fall for 2014 academic year.

I dont think your high school stats will have any impact of your admission if you choose to apply from a community college. However, I would recommend getting the highest possible grades (3.8+ish) and work hard on your essays. Sports/Community Service could only help your application. Get involved as much as possible.

Good luck my friend.

pookierawr123, thank you!

Going to community college was a smart move for you. Rock your classes, get stellar grades, and find an extracurricular activity or two that you can demonstrate leadership in.
