What do I need to know about the ACTs?

I’ve taken the SAT Is 3 times, scored decently on them (1830), while it it better than the average, I’m not very happy with them. So I think I’m gonna sign up for the Dec ACTs. What do I need to know about them, curves, what are the questions like, what subjects, how long, how advanced. What’s the equivalent of an 1800 on the ACTs.

work quickly

conversion chart here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACT_(examination)

very quickly.

Really? Are there more questions than is humanly (reasonably) able to anwer in the time? (wow that was awk) That might be a problem with OCD, can anyone comment on the number/difficulty of the problems?

YOu have to mentally shut off the SAT brain, as if you do this test like the SAT you’ll sink. TIME, TIME, TIME, practice the time element.

Get a test booklet from GC office, (which by the way was not as hard as the last one at all, so don’t get fooled) then if you like it, get the REAL ACT prep book, only 3 tests in it, but they are real tests.
U get about a minute per question, TIME speed are critical.

ACT English-easier than SAT writing
ACT Math-more difficult than SAT Math, very similar to SAT II Math
ACT Reading-MUCH easier than SAT Critical Reading, but timing is tough
ACT Science-hell
ACT Essay-much better writing prompts than SAT Essay

Will I get the scores in time for colleges? I’m a senior, specifically UCs. I took the plus writing, how late is too late to ask the college to keep your application open?

Oh, UC’s? Isn’t their deadline early in, like, November?

Yeah, it is, I’m gonna send it in, but call them, and ask them to keep my application open until all the scores are in. But it seems like if i take the Dec ACTs, I won’t get the score until close to new years. I was just worried that it might be too late, or even worse hurt my chances.

no it’s definitely preference what is harder. to me English is easier on the ACT. Reading is easer on the act. Math is easier on the ACT. Science is…well science is ********
