What do they look for at University of California - Berkeley
Kindly help me to decide if I can try Univesity of California - Berkeley. What is my chance with
SAT subject scores
Chemistry 730
Mathematics Level 2 780
Physics 740
SAT Scores
Critical Reading 750
Math 730
Writing 670
I am an Asian international student academics are in top 10% in my school, doing IB Diploma predicted grades may be 7 7 6 7 6 5, teachers reco good,
I am NOT so much into community service or sports etc

<p>I thought sports and community service was very importnat to them. In Malaysia at international schools, we dont do so much of extra curricular as done in US etc.

<p>Yes, some of them. however the IB Diploma, SAT preparation, college application takes most of the time. I do participate in some of the cultural activities and take some leads in environment activities. However do not get enough time to do any substantial work. I read some personal statements of past students . That made me think that sports and community service may be my weakness. So shall I apply?</p>

<p>SooSee, what do you intend to major in Berkeley? I think admission in Berkeley has also got to do with which major you are applying for. For example, engineering applicants usually have higher entry stats than say, history major applicants. Berkeley is also very tough on International students… I had a decent stat when I applied to Berkeley about 10 years ago and I was rejected. I also earned my IB in Singapore although I’m not a Singaporean.</p>

<p>it’s probably not as tough as engineering majors, so you probably have a good chance. but maybe it would be better if you list out some of your other achievements in your application? grades can only get you so far… other aspects of your application are important too. and anyway i got in with lower scores.</p>
