Im taking mandarin and some courses instructor say Staff what does this mean?

it means a current grad student will probably teach it since he/she needs to fulfill some kind of requirement. or the professor for that class has been undecided

thanks. How is the grading when it comes to learning a new language, and one as hard as mandarin? I don’t want my gpa to go down for learning a new language

can’t help you there because i came into BU already knowing spanish and continued to improve upon it by taking upper level classes. but this post will serve as a bump ^^

Staff can also indicate an adjunct professor (part-time). The Asian languages are particularly difficult and time consuming.

Same here! High five! I tested out of Spanish with the AP exam and SAT II. I got 2 semesters of it for getting a 5 on the AP exam and didn’t have to do more since I got nearly a perfect score on the SAT II.

I took Arabic I freshman year…it was tough but I liked it a lot. Be prepared to do a significant amount of work though, if you haven’t taken the language before. No easy A’s really.
