What Do Women Want?

I belong to a similar group.
In my observation- rarely stolen items are Christmas themed items and scented lotions(bath body work type), Coffee mugs.
Popular items in past years- cookbook, nice socks, good wine, gift card to local book store. High end candle (not Yankee Candle)
Ideas I would steal- water bottle like @showmom858 mentioned, Swell or Hydroflask. Smartwool no show socks, good olive oil, good vinegar, shopping bag (the kind that fold small into themselves)
We have our get together this week. I went to a local olive oil shop and bought a pomegranate vinegar. I’ll let you know if it was a hit or miss after Tuesday.

Do you all gather for for coffee or lunch together? If so, a gift card to wherever that is might be nice.

I have a similar event coming up. The women I run with are having a holiday party with a gift exchange - price range is $20. I found a really cute headband to wear for winter walking/running and it was $20. So maybe something tennis related that doesn’t have to be a specific size.

These gift exchanges are so hard for women of a certain age who have enough “stuff” already!

I enjoy chocolates and other consumables. A woman at our office received a “Cake Mix Doctor” cookbook and everyone wanted it.

@TiggerDad , who you callin’ aging?

The last time I went to one of those, the popular gifts were so raunchy that it scared me off forever. Safe gifts are things like high quality chocolate, alcohol, and gift cards to popular local places. I would avoid highly personal things like perfume, clothing, etc.

Gift card to the local indie book store, nice or sassy/funny socks, Jacobsen salts, cocktail bitters, new cocktail shaker and stirrers

No coffee mugs, water bottles, ornaments

No pickle ball items. We are tennis players and none of us is interested even though our club has two pickle ball courts.

No Christmas items as many of our group are Jewish.

I like the idea of the fancy olive oils. There’s an olive oil tasting store near us. I also like the headband idea.

I am worried about gift cards now. There was a news story about scammers taking the id numbers off the gift cards and as soon as they are bought and have money on them, the money is taken out. Plus, it’s sort of a ‘cheat’.

As I’ve said before I find the most popular gifts are “ expensive for what they are. Here I’d do

I did specialty salt set one year for one of these things and it was stolen several times.

The other v popular thing was this Jo Malone body wash

And these hair ties are nice

What about a spare battery pack for cell phone? Sunglasses? Dried fruit? Unsalted mixed nuts? Multi-pack gourmet popcorn? Fruit basket? Sampler of cheeses & crackers? Nice heavy-duty canvas shopping tote—extra points if it has a zipper? Thin nylon shopping totes that fold into themselves or small pouch that can be on keychain? There are some very nice gift boxes/baskets at Costco & elsewhere.

A trendy or highly rated cookbook (Ottolenghi is typical example or something more recent), wine, a hydroflask, chunky warm socks.

My group wouldn’t want chocolate b/c everyone watches what they eat…I have a gift exchange with a small group of friends on Saturday so this thread will give me ideas…

Korean face masks.

I keep them in my fridge. I use it once a week. Makes my face feel hydrated.

You can get them on Amazon.

@TatinG ,
Is the “gift stealing game” the same as what we call a Yankee Swap?

In my experience, believe it or not, the popular gift that people enjoy stealing is scratch tickets. You can buy a nice coffee mug and stuff it with scratch tickets (a couple of $5, several $2 and $1).

I also got this as gift last year and I really like it. It is an ice roller for your face. D1 got it for me.

I’d steal all three of those @maya54

Maybe a boxed flower bulb kit?

We’ve sent many amaryllis holiday gifts from Jackson and Perkins mail order. They are pricey but nice. Happily I’ve also found that bringing a cheaper version from grocery store makes a nice house gift, with good feedback when it blooms … (similar to this - https://www.amazon.com/Red-Lion-Jumbo-Amaryllis-bulb/dp/B00VQSNNJA/ref=asc_df_B00VQSNNJA/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385180410409&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3771488086744555688&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014570&hvtargid=aud-799728744414:pla-843113774551&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=79960353593&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=385180410409&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3771488086744555688&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014570&hvtargid=aud-799728744414:pla-843113774551)

My personal rule of thumb is only being a gift I’d gladly steal and at least two or more folks whom I know will be in attendance will want to steal.

Last year, I bought several soft plush throws from Costco on coupon. All were stolen the maximum number of times. My food items were as well.

@privatebanker. Lol. I had the same thought… But will still eat the popcorn. All I know after 32 years of marriage I still have no idea that my wife wants… Lol… But if these are active gals how about certificates for like full body massages or a spa day kind of thing?

@knowstuff if you can find a massage or spa day for the gift limit of $20, please post a link for all of us?

Lol… I totally read the first post quickly but wrongly. Sorry. I thought the pricing was $40-$70,not the age of the people but still would not able to find that for that price. Maybe a medi/pedi. I will crawl back under my rock now. ?

Lol. I never had a massage or visited a spa and have no intentions to do so.

How about a basket with Penzey spices? That item - many of us can use!
Good athletic socks like a pair of Bombas?
A Miir mug?
Some measuring cups?
