That is because Costco is more than the big boxes you see. They also have a business delivery system, and sell to convenience stores (among others.)

Costco.com carries high-quality, brand-name business products with Costco’s everyday lowest possible price. Shop here for thousands of items not available at your local Costco, all available for delivery to your business!

In our continuing effort to stock everything a Convenience Store might need for resale, we carry the right size and selection of items typically found in a Convenience Store.

10 min. is valued at roughly $6 (plus, minus). for a couple (most cases at Costco) that would be roughly $12.
I never take muffins home, I will not be able to fit in my car if I have done it after all ice cream and other stuff. They are definitely the best muffins I have ver tried, much much better than Panera muffins (that are sometime also brought to our office, but not by me) My favorite is bran. I had the whole thing last time, maybe even 1.5. So delicious!!!

I was a bond analyst. A boring business model is a good thing for bonds and put equity people to sleep. I attended a major retail conference in that period where he told the sell-side equity folks to suck it up, as that was their business model and they weren’t changing.

I like that CEO more and more. Deal with it is something more CEOs should say to Wall Street.

Back when D was in elementary school the father of one of her classmates worked for Costco and during the course of elementary school was promoted from supervisor (doing stocking during the night) to assistant manager to finally manager of a new store when D was in middle school. Seemed like a much, much better gig than manager of a grocery store.

Weird about the gas lines folks have mentioned. I don’t remember waiting for more than a minute or two anytime except the holidays – absolutely no longer than I might at any other gas station. And goodness knows that the many folk driving huge SUV’s around here buy a LOT of gasoline.

several things I like about Costco gas stations (realize I’m in NJ and we have full service…)

1) you can pull into either side & they will stretch hose to far side of car. (no other station I go to will do that).
2) they don’t try to push the last ounce of gas in the tank. when the auto shut off kicks off, that’s they amount of gas you get.
3) attendents hussle to move the cars out quickly, not like my local station where the attendent is often on a cell phone.
4) they only take plastic, which moves things along

go to our local Costco at least once a month. Dried coconut in a bag is terrific! (and addicting). Usually takes about 45 min to an hour and usually fairly crowded. Just tried their prime ribeye steaks–really tender and delicious. Don’t buy their gas. Love all the samples on a Saturday morning. Fresh fruit has always been very good quality. Buy Starbucks Via coffee there as well as bottled Starbucks mocha coffee. Always find stuff we need in the coupon mailers they send to our home. Have never bought a major appliance, however.

Oh yea, I also get most of our Rx glasses & contacts at Costco & have for as long as they’ve been located just a short drive from our home. Their prices are GREAT!

Xiggi, my local chain grocery store has carried those products for years, I’ve also seen them at Trader Joes.
I’ve never actually seen them at Costco, but I rarely have bought food there since I used to buy the flat’o muffins for snack in grade school.

Long time fan of Tasty Bite’s Indian side dishes here. I also buy them at Wegman’s. The Black Gramm Lentil is outstanding. Mixes so well with rice and a piece of grilled fish or meat plus a salad. Instant great dinner. And healthy. Low calorie, high fiber and lots of tumeric which they say is the fountain of eternal of life.

Could we do a Wegman’s foodie thread? I’m new to NJ and evolving into a Wegman’s fan.

D loves the Tasty Bite Lentils – but thought from the packaging that they were Mexican food!

NJ2011mom – how did you even happen across the emergency food stuff? (And there are few things I think I’d like less in my emergency food supply than some dehydrated peach drink.) I’d guess this might be pretty appealing to Mormon families.

I clicked on the ‘Grocery & Floral’ link at the top of the home page. Can’t remember what I was looking for once, but my family got a good laugh out of it. (It was such an odd link, I had to investigate!)

What did I put in my shopping cart today? Pita bread, blueberries, eggs, milk, steak, bananas, spinach, pears (from South Africa - they are yummy), greek yogurt, raspberries, minor office supplies, vitamin D. D picked up her 2 pairs of hard contacts and really, really cute glasses, frame by Chloe.

I just tried something amazing so had to go back and find this thread. It’s called Yakisoba and is in the frozen foods section. It’s a box of single servings of Japanese fried noodles with crispy vegetables in a sauce. You microwave it for 3 minutes.
