I checked a mattress in the warehouse vs. the online price. The online price was $100 more! Of course, there is much more variety in mattresses online except for certain times of year when they have more available in the warehouse.
I buy a bag salad that has brussel sprouts md other greens chopped up, and comes with crazins, pumpkin seeds, and poppy seed dressing. It makes a great lunch for maybe 3 days.
I buy down comforters there. They are much cheaper than I’ve found at other places, including the manufacturer’s website. I also buy Kind bars. They don’t have much as far as variety, but I like the ones they have.
Just ran out of Tuscan Style Italian Seasoning (McCormick) dried spice mix this evening. Need to replenish!
It’s funny. My sister asked me to get some of that Italian seasoning for her but our area doesn’t carry it. What regional products do you notice? We have boudin and “cajun vegetables” which are pre chopped onion, celery, and green bell pepper.
While on vacation in Idaho, I tried to buy Pillsbury pie dough. At my PA Costco I get it in packs of 6 (I think) any time of the year. The salesperson looked at me like I had two heads and said she thought it “might” be offered around Thanksgiving or Christmas. At a Vermont Costco, they had local brand coffee beans offered in a 2 lb. box.
In Seattle at a location that primarily serves local restaurants I saw a whole lamb, not just the leg, wrapped in white plastic and hanging in the freezer, did a real double take!
Bought a huge mum yesterday! Little over $10 and really HUGE!
Kat
Yes, in HI, they sell some local coffees. They also sell mac nut Hershey’s kisses, individually wrapped. They also sell lau lau, poi, Portuguese sausage, taro chips, taro dinner rolls, ginger syrup, kalua pork (smoked pulled pork). They also have some Asian foods, as we have a large Asian population and a selection of coconut water.
I’m sure there are other things as well.
In Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada, bought some small vars of individually wrapped Swiss dark chocolate for gifts. Yum!
When we go to Hawaii, we hit Costco on our way to the airport and bring back chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Unfortunately, it seems some of them never make it to their intended recipients. But they are very good.
I especially like the dark chocolate ones, as well as the caramel ones. For gifts, I’ve been bringing more coffee, so don’t have to worry about contributing to diabetes.
We love that in HI, Costcos carry locally grown veggies: Asian eggplant, alii mushrooms, purple potatoes… I have not seen them at any mainland Costcos.
In Vancouver (the BC one), I spotted a whole tray of Nanaimo bars! I wanted one so badly I bought the whole package.
In Cancun (yup, went to Costco there!) Costco sold cactus leaves and lots if different varieties of tequila. Did not buy any.
I would love to go to a Costco in another country! Your membership card worked there too? Imagine the tea in London… and the “tinned food”.
I hear they’re opening up next year in Iceland.
Yes! Both in Canada and Mexico they let me in with my Costco card. I used my Amex to pay.
I’m a clueless Presbyterian in Texas, but it seems like the lamb currently available might be related to common holy days?
Yes, @somemom, that’s what I saw the whole lamb!
Costco in South Korea.
Costco here also sells some locally grown fruits–lychee, rabutan, and pomelo (similar to grapefruit), when they are available. Costco also carries local lettuce and shanghai cabbage, and local tomatoes, when it is available.
We had no problem getting into Costco in Canada with our Costco card and paying with our AmEx card (tho there was a foreign transaction fee–not high because we didn’t buy much anyway).
Well, usually the rotisserie chicken, bagged salads, TP and coffee. However, recently we bought a MBR set, a LR set and several recliners. Oh, we found all the furniture because H needed one of the puffer down jackets.
