I just came across those socks when I was cleaning out my sock drawer today. I loved wearing them last winter and they held up well.
@arisamp If you’ve booked rental cars a few months in advance, check in again at 2 months prior to trip and also about 2 weeks prior to trip. I have found that many times, what I had previously booked was cheaper when I double checked, so I just re-booked at lower price and cancelled the original booking.
This was a post of mine in the Your Good Buy of the Day thread in August
“I had booked a rental car thru Costco (LOVE THEM) for 11 days. When I originally booked in January 2015, the cost was $358. In July, I checked/rebooked and the cost for the exact days, same full size, Budget rental company, everything-- went down to $261.
Today, I checked again, and it went down to $222.”
fwiw…
Costco has Patagonia!!!
Yes. Log in with your Costco online account to see the prices for the jackets in link above. They are member-only items.
Our warehouse had the Nanopuff jackets in Tobago Blue and some sort of grey (not online) for $129. The online price is the same with free shipping.
Took a looksie. I had no idea they had some of these brands online! I saw North Face and Hunter boots - where have I and my pocketbook been when shopping for D2!!???
Maybe we should share other brand name finds at Costco/Costco online!!!
I buy (a very $$$$$) Chanel face product at Costco for $$$. Still expensive, but less than at department stores. Costco periodically has fancy pants stuff like Prada bags and Chanel J12 online…
Do you think the designer clothes at Costco are the same quality as those sold in the store? Or are they specifically made for Costco at a lower price point?
Yes, the items Costco sells are not counterfeit goods or inferior quality, made for outlet stuff. I have no doubts about that. However, according to some, these items are “gray market goods” - i.e., goods not acquired directly from the manufacturer (for example, bought in bulk from a going out of business authorized seller).
Costco’s unorthodox ways of getting a hold of such designer merch has ruffled the manufacturers’ feathers often. The manufacturers periodically sue Costco for selling these items without manufacturer’s authorization, for instance, claiming copyright infringement. Here is a summary of the most recent case from the 9th Circuit:
Here is a link to those intersted in reading the court’s opinion and a summary:

We got Briggs & Riley Suitcases that were $499 on their website for $139 at Costco. Love them–high quality and very sturdy. H loves them too.
The Patagonia nano puff jackets are $229 for my HI Costco card–yours is much better-priced!
Agree about periodically rechecking rental rates, as they do bounce around. I have also found 2 months and 2 weeks prior to be “sweet spots” for rental car pricing.
@HImom That is some major savings on luggage.
Yes, we love it. S found it in DC too. Don’t know whether other locations carried it–wasnt online.
HIMom, there are 2 types of Patagonia jackets there. The $229 ones are not Nanopuff; they are full-zip hoodies (I see $219, I guess there is a $10 HI surcharge):
The Nanopuff are at the very bottom of the link or here:

I only recently discovered the box of grapefruit cups in the refrigerated section. They are so good! I’ve been on a grapefruit kick and can’t stand it if I am about to run out.
We tried a couple of the soups for the first time tonight. We’ve been fans of the broccoli cheese for a long time, but tonight tried the chicken tortilla and the tomato basil that come in 2 packs. I love the tortilla soup. The tomato basil was also good, but is more basic.
Another of my favorite things is the bag of bacon pieces. I love to sprinkle a few bits in a salad or omelette and it lasts a long time.
Horseradish cheddar! Yumm! I swear I ate the entire tray of samples while chatting with the lady who was dishing out the free samples. Mr. ate a piece and said, “Let’s get 2 pounds.” Sooooo good!
Got a 2-pack of vegan (or vegetarian, do not remember) vegetable-barley soups, too. The soup tastes great, especially when I added some chopped rotisserie chicken to it…
55" 4K TV.
Ravioli lasagna in the fresh prepared food section. My family loves it.
I love Bare Apple chips…perfect for when you want a little something sweet with zero added sugar! Costco sells them in massive bags. Unfortunately they are not always stocked so it’s a hit or miss trip.
@raclut - the national retailers I’ve worked with/for do a separate buy for alternative outlets used to sell their branded products. Basically, they put in a different order at the factory for those goods that are sold in alternative formats, including warehouse clubs such as Costco. The order differs in style, quality of materials. The difference may or may not be lower quality – it could just be different to distinguish it from the selection sold in their core retail stores often at a different price point. Some retailers will intentionally take a smaller margin for goods sold through alternative formats as a way to broaden their brand reach and supplement sales at their core stores. In my view, moderate priced brands like North Face or Levi/Dockers or even Brooks Brothers are likely to follow this strategy (different selection, compromise on price to capture an lucrative client base). However, true luxury brands like, say Prada or Jimmy Choo, rarely do it for this reason because they don’t need or want to broaden their appeal. The whole point of being an elite brand is protecting your “hard to get” image. If you are finding a true luxury brand at Costco, at a Costco price, it’s not going to be the same quality.
Costco pre-cooked bacon. The best deal on bacon, hands down. It take us a month to get through it, and it costs a fraction of of raw bacon at the store and it is so much more convenient to use.
