What do you buy at Costco?

Usually the one day passes have a 5% surcharge on them. They have them in the paper usually around Christmas time. Thumper, I’m sure you’ll have friends with memberships and if you are only going 1-2 times a year, that might be cheaper for you. I had both a BJ and Costco membership. Thing I liked about BJ’s was that many of the products were in much smaller quantities, and it was more convenient, and it took Visa, even for gas which I always bought there. Love Costco, but it is farther away and an ‘event’ to go there and shop. Always $100, always an hour or more.

I posted this back on page 69… I’m not advertising for the blogger but do appreciate all the work put into it. Maybe this list will help @thumper1.

Super helpful Costco price list! http://queenbeecoupons.com/costco-price-list/

I have found they have the best salmon. Cheaper than the grocery store, plentiful and superior quality.

And they are awesome for birthday cakes. A cake that will cost you $50-$60 at the bakery will be $20 at Costco. And delicious. Maybe not as fancy, but attractive and perfectly serviceable.

I second the comment about razors. Much cheaper at Costco.

Light bulbs - all kinds.

Cat litter. Super cheap.

Trays of sandwiches or wraps if you have an event. So much cheaper than anywhere - and again delicious.

Candy for Halloween.

Printing photos. Especially large format. Unbelievably cheap.

The rental car prices are the huge savings for us. We rent thru them at least twice or more/year.

Biggest costco in the world- in Salt Lake City- 50% more space than average size

The socks are back… Remember those cozy hiking socks that many of us got last year that were soft with some arch support? I saw them again when I was at the store along side some very nice gold toe cuffed trouser socks for women. On clearance (although they never call it clearance) were some cute flannel shirts for women. I had a hard time finding a small size since there weren’t that many in the pile, but I did and got it for $9.99! I looked for the membership deal that HImom found, but they didn’t offer it at my store.

^ I loved those socks, merino wool! but many of them, many developed holes.
Did anyone else have this happen???

No holes that I noticed, but I don’t wear them that often.

I only got holes in one sock that my dog stole! I was really impressed by how well they held up and I did wear them a lot.

I bought a down jacket for $40. My wife bought a lightweight down jacket for $15.

My Costco started putting out some Christmas stuff in the last week of September! I noticed yesterday that the giant nutcrackers sold out. Amazing. I can’t wait to see them around town.

They now have a “beer advent calendar” with a different beer every day for December. All German. H wants one for his birthday!

If you store the merino socks with cedar blocks or chips that might prevent the socks from getting holes in them.

^ thanks raclut- they actually wore out last winter when I wore them so often ( everyday last winter ). I’m thinking about buying new ones

I have purchased a couple of down comforters from Costco. I took one back, because it was too warm. Right now they are on sale, if anyone is interested, it seems like they are a good deal when I compare them to others.

I love the velvety blankets with the faux sheep fur. Got a bunch last year, and they wash up nicely…still soft and cozy. Bought two more so the kids won’t fight over them when they come home.

Thanks to whoever put in the note about renta cars. I hadn’t thought of booking cars through costco - but they are a great deal! We are traveling and need rentals cars several times over the next few months and their rates are way cheaper than anywhere else. And they throw in an additional driver at no extra charge!

Got a Patagonia Nanopuff jacket for big kiddo - in an amazing color. They have men’s stuff, too.
