What do you buy at Costco?

I thought ours always had furniture, but it does seem to have a few more pieces than usual, or at least new choices.

I really like the table that converts from a wall table to a dining table. I may have to get one of those.

@psychmomma — there is definitely a seasonality to it. Swing sets and summer furniture move in after Easter, bedroom furniture and leather sectionals after Christmas, which is why I was surprised to see the post-Christmas inventory back, including mattresses. Costco seems to know what they are doing so perhaps it is to target the college grad market or will become a permanent addition?

Wait, I was there yesterday and didn’t notice lots of furniture. I’m waiting for mattresses. They always have a few off to the side, but only the firm ones. I’d buy online but the price is about $100 more to cover the “free” shipping. Will lots of mattresses come soon? Crossing fingers…

Sam’sClub also has mattresses, for folks interested.

Yes, I posted earlier that our good buy was a mattress from Sam’s! Bought for DS, a junior in first apartment, a memory foam mattrrss with gel top: http://m.samsclub.com/ip/night-therapy-gel-infused-memory-foam-10-inch-elite-mattresses-various-sizes/prod6480126
Free shipping, matching frame purchased at WalMart. No box spring needed for this.

He loves it!

ETA, I helped another friend’s DD here for school, find a specific Costco full size mattress. The staff located it at another nearby store. It’s no longer offered, but was a great clearance buy.

oops- wrong thread- sorry

I buy nothing at Costco since they stopped taking AMEX.

I just spent an hour comparing rental car deals and rate codes. I first quickly look at all of them on kayak or expedia to get a quick overview, and unless there is a glaring deal I will book with Hertz since we have Hertz #1 gold, we get 5% back on Hertz rentals on my AmEx card and an additional 3% back by booking it through mrrebates. I still found the best deal using my AAA code (better than USAA) and there was an extra RC discount for an additional $10 off. There is, for some reason, a special on the midsize jeep compass (cheaper than even the economy or compact). So I booked this car for 2 days for 81.67 (this is before the 5% back on Amex and the 3% back on mrrebates. Mrrebates does the 3% on the rental cost only, not the junk fees they slop on at the airport (we are on a tight time schedule so have to rent to/from the airport) so the extra 3% back will be on only $59.28 of the $81.67 fee. But hey, free is free. So the 2 rebates combined will total $5.86. Again, not a big deal, but it is nice. Total 2 day midsize rental will then be $75.81 total. This is in Minneapolis.

There was a lot of furniture as well as mattresses at my Costco this morning. Plenty of people looking and lounging.

They were doing a land-office business on packable, quilted down vests $15 & $17.

I happily walked away with Starbucks keurig cups, schick razor blades, and more (!) reading glasses.

@GertrudeMcFuzz - I bought that table yesterday. I put it in my guest room to use as a desk or sometimes sewing table.
@greenwitch - our Costco has the furniture and a huge selection of mattresses. It is new this week. Our store no longer has outdoor furniture or camping equipment. Our store also has a college section with mini fridges, microwave and other things you might need in college. I don’t know if this is because our local Costco is 1 mile from a UC campus.

I bought ribs.

zebamom, we went to two Costcos today - the Kirkland one and the one in the mighty Town of Grace. Both had the same dark, depressing looking furniture and piles of mattresses.

Oops, apologies. The above post is in the wrong thread. Will copy/paste it to the right one. But that said, the deal I got was till better than the costco travel car rental.

I had to return something that I must have bought with the old Amex card. They offered me cash or a cash card. I took cash.

I want to know more about the convertible table…can you give any more info (eg price) so I can maybe hunt it down??

@Tempemom - I’ll try to get some info for you when I go to Costco this weekend.

Went to Costco this afternoon. Got some nice fresh peaches. Sweet corn. Kirkland lemonade. Tony Roma’s ribs.

We bought the Kirkland organic beef burger patties. ** Barbecue fans cover your eyes.** I threw a few in the saute pan with some chopped onions, threw on some cheese and covered for a minute, then warmed up some potato burger buns. MAN! One of the best burgers I’ve ever had, if I do say so myself.

The white nectarines are DELICIOUS, if you let them sit out until they smell ripe. They are juicy and sweet!

I had to go to Costco today for the first time in a few years. Seriously, usually H is happy to go, but he is out of town. I had trouble finding things and the crowds got on my nerves. Could not remember which forms of payment they now take. I was judging people for bad driving skills in the parking lot. I really think it’s true that you lose some skills when you don’t use them. I have clearly lost my Costco skills.
