(Superior is a bit skewed because myself and 3 other students in the top 20 are the only students with an SAT score >2200 or in 2 of our cases, ACT >34

There are very few people with below a 26 ACT or 1600 SAT at my school. If you have below a 1600 or 26 ACT, you are considered the bottom of the barrel. These people are more than likely failing/scraping by with C’s/D’s. It’s not anything arrogant; it’s the sad truth about how grade deflated my high school is.

^Meh, it’s representative of the American education system and typical public HS – a C average and literally an average SAT/ACT score that is half of what it is out of.

Also explains why AP curves are so generous. You’re being graded relative to these idiots.

AP curves are designed relative to college students’ performance. That’s why there’s such a big disparity between the percentage of people who get 5s on Calculus BC vs World History.

I think only one or two students had a 4.0 in our graduating class last year (which speaks more to the rigor of our curriculum then the quality of our students).

Valdectorian:
GPA: 4.5+
SAT: 2250
ECs: President of Clubs, Devoted in extra curricular activites, and a vast amount of community service doing what he/she enjoys.

Slightly below average:
Dropped out, failing all classes

Average:
GPA:<2.0
ACT: 10-16
EC: None

Above average:
GPA:2.0-2.5
ACT:19
EC:A sport or club

Superior:
GPA: 2.6-3.0
ACT:17-20
EC: A couple clubs

Get the picture? My school has very low standards… I have a 2.7 GPA, scored a 24 on the ACT, am in one club (parents won’t let me do anything else) which is strategy club, and I’m in the top 25% of my class.

The highest SAT score besides mine in my 400 person class was a 2010. I scored 2230. I’m tied for rank 1. Our school really neglects standardized tests…
