What do you consider a mediocre student?

Also what do you consider to be an average student, a above average student, and a superiorly above student?

List:
GPA:
Rank:
ECs:
SAT/ACT:

At my school…

Mediocre:
GPA:2.6(w)
Rank:85%
SAT/ACT: 1470/21

Average:
GPA:3.3(w)
Rank:50%
SAT/ACT:1790/26

Above average
GPA:3.8(w)+
Rank:20%+
SAT/ACT:2050+/31+

For the average student I literally filled in my school’s statistics for the averages given. Also, excuse my laziness but I don’t feel like adding ECs.

At my school…

^ woah those are… Low standards.

List: Average

List: Above Average

List: Superior

Top 10:
GPA: >4.5
Rank: <10
ECs: sports, 3-4 clubs (1-2 leadership positions), more activities
SAT: 2000/2400

The official average SAT scores are a bit higher (between 1400 and 1450), but not everyone takes them, so that’s why they’re lower in my post. The highest SAT score in my class was between 2200 and 2300, and the highest GPA was either 4.7 or 4.8 (both were NOT me, though I wish…)

My School Unweighted:

Bad:
GPA<2.0
SAT: They will forget

Average:
3.0
SAT: 1550-1600

Above Av.: 3.1-3.5
SAT: 1650-1750

Excellent:
3.5-4.0
SAT: 1800-2100

HAHA!
My school is very noncompetitive to say the least. The top ten of my school is a joke. I will be the only one with a 2300+ SAT and I have like 320 kids in my grade.
PS: I bump students down a category if their SAT is lower, as GPA is really useless to say the least.

Mediocre
GPA: 2.8 UW
Rank: 99-70%
ECs: a couple school clubs (Key Club, etc…)
SAT/ACT: 15-22

1.0 and got accepted to no college

at my school…

Mediocre:

Above average:

Superior:
GPA: 96+
SAT: 2350+

0.5 gpa and below 400 on SAT and never got accepted to anywhere and failed almost every other subject known to man.

At my school, anyone with below a 90 average is very mediocre. The classes are horrendously easy and the amount of extra credit offered is insane. You really have to try to do bad here.

My school

My school’s average SAT is 1400 and average ACT is 19 BTW. So take this with a grain of salt — my school is definitely your typical everyday subpar, average public HS.

Mediocre
GPA:2.0-2.5 Unweighted + Weighted (meaning no honors or AP classes)
Rank: 100-200/~500

Superior

ECs: Solid involvement with a club or two and leadership positions, solid volunteering, varsity sport, marching band/orchestra (high chair), and/or choir/school singing group
SAT/ACT: 2200+ SAT/33+ ACT

This thread amazes me… How can a 2200 SAT ( 99% national percentile) be average!? The only case I can think of that being the the truth is at a place like Andover/ Exeter.

I go to a public high school by the border with 2300 kids.
Only listing ACT ranges because the only people who take the SAT are in the top 10% it seems

Mediocre:
GPA: 2.0 or less UW and does not take honors or AP
ACT: 10-15 or hasn’t taken the ACT
ECs: None

Average:
GPA: 2.8-3.0 UW and has maybe taken a few honors courses but no AP
ACT: 17-21 and usually take the ACT at the end of senior year
ECs: None, maybe a sport or a job

Above average
GPA: ~3.2 UW and has taken some honors courses and maybe 1 AP
ACT: 22-25
ECs: One or two clubs or sports, maybe a job, volunteers sometimes

Superior
GPA: 3.5+ UW and has only taken honors and/or AP. Weighted, the highest GPAs of my class are ~4.1.
ACT: 26+ and the highest score in my class is a 33
ECs: Three or more clubs or sports, maybe a job, volunteers more regularly than an above average student

Meh…there’s Troy HS, TJSST, Stuyvesant, Lynbrook, Monta Vista, Los Altos, Torrey Pines, Harvard-Westlake, University (I’m from Cali as you can see)…all the places with rich kids, high concentrations of Asians, or in close proximity to a high-ranked university (e.g. Lynbrook + Monta Vista + Los Altos–> Stanford & Torrey Pines –> UCSD & University –> UC Irvine)

My school:
Rank and ECs aren’t that big here.

Mediocre
GPA: Below 2.5
ACT: 12-15

Average
GPA: 2.5-2.8
ACT: 15-17

Above Average
GPA: 2.9+
ACT 18+

The sad thing is that I’m serious.
