I see a lot (well not too many) threads and posts about friends, so I wanted to ask what do you consider a friend? Someone you hang out with? Someone you talk to? Someone you feel a great emotional bond to? Are there “friends” and then * friends *?

In general what do you refer to when you say “I have no friends” or “making friends is easy,” etc.

A friend is someone you can rely on. Support basically. Though, if they support you yet you dont support them then they may be your friend but your not theirs.

Friend (My definition): Someone you can talk to; count on; trust (you really can’t trust anyone because anyone (even family) can turn on you, but you know what I mean); share personal problems with; share laughs and smiles with; create special and historical moments with; someone who makes an effort to genuinely see how you’re doing; someone who you can rely on and supports you no matter what; someone who accepts you for who you are regardless of race, sexual orientation, views, etc

With that being said, it’s a reason why I don’t have that many friends. And like I say in multiple threads, I don’t have many friends, but I say that with pride as the few friends that I do have are true friends. I just don’t call anyone a “friend”; that has to be proven to me over time.

A friend…The guy who distracts the ugly chick while you hit on her friend.

Someone who has your back, through the good times and bad. Someone you can be 1000 miles from and still have that connection. Someone who is bold enough to tell you when your wrong. Someone who will kick your ass if need be. Think of brother/sister without the family relation.

Friend:

A person I can feel comfortable with regardless of the situation.

A person I can call on at any given time and not feel awkward.

A person I talk to outside of school on a frequent basis (inside of school is optional).

A person who shows physical and emotional compassion (as weird as it may sound, my group of male friends say we love each other, give each other hugs, and do other inappropriate stuff all the time. It is more of a bromance).

Real friend - someone I can call 2 in the morning about anything. They might tell me to go screw myself for calling them at 2 in the morning, but will listen to me whine anyhow.

-Someone who won’t ditch you for their latest squeeze.
-Someone who crashes at your apartment, eats all your food, and annoys your roommate but it’s fine because you did it to them last weekend.
-Someone you can call at two a.m. and drunkenly complain about your ex to.

All that is a little trivial. A real friend is one who stands by you through thick and thin, who always has your back, and who loves you for yourself. After all, friends are the family you get to choose.

A friend is, generally, someone whom I like to talk to and spend time with. Generally, I consider people who I talk to in class but don’t really hang out with outside of class to be acquaintances; if we do hang out, they’re friends. Good friends are the people I know I can count on, and best friends are the ones who will always be there for you no matter what.

Best friends-People who you can call at any moment with a problem and if they can they’ll help you. Ex, You need help cleaning up after a party.

Good Friends-People you hang with a lot and can talk to about your problems.

Friends-Someone you chill with every now and then and you can laugh and have fun with.

A friend is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out.
